Just finished this. Great book, but subject matter and conclusions make for a very dispiriting read.

Any good? My nine year old adopted son is experiencing increased developmental trauma as he is growing up and I am always looking for things to read that may be of help.

Yes mate. IFS has been life changing for me, to the point that I’m going to eventually specialise in it. It’s especially good for trauma of any kind and works well with children. In fact, it would be positive and beneficial for pretty much everyone imo.

The ideas and practice are pretty simple, but really work. Once you’ve learnt some of the methods, you can do it yourself. I now do it daily and I’ve had more progress with this than any other form of therapy.

In this book, there’s exercises to do at the end of each chapter. Highly recommended.

Good info on this site to get some idea of what’s involved.

Hope you find it useful for you and your son. Gabor Maté is also very good on childhood trauma.

I don’t know about saving a marriage but it has made for some great times away clubs and nights out… We take it a few times a year, get the kids away for a few days, plan a trek where we won’t bump into people we know, bring a few drinks, wrap up warm and get out for a few hours… :green_heart: We’ve actually had some tonight. Sitting at home, fire lighting and listening to the gina Sabatini mix I posted few hours ago… Life is good :green_heart:

Arrived the next day!! Lovely book, and a nice booklet to accompany included with an interview and some stories behind the images etc.

Found this really interesting - the “Imagine, what would it mean to have taste in music before there was audio recording?” question made my head go a bit weird:

I’ve been told to give this a read /listen

Just finished David Keenan’s ‘Xstabeth

It’s great, really great. With one caveat - the sex stuff - it’s like, you’re really, really enjoying writing this, aren’t you? I’m sure there are artistic justifications that would make me feel like a dunce and/or prude, but, for me, he hit peak creepy male author.

this was a tiring read, being an auteur isn’t his godgiven talent

On the Trevor Horn book. Dipping in and out. Had higher hopes tbh. Although the buggles back story was all new to me
