This was a really tough one for me–a slog. Hofmann’s translation is excellent. However, friends who grew up in the USSR/DDR found it really spoke to them, very eye-opening and nostalgic.

I’m on my second read through and it’s really uncomfortable in the sense that you sit there and think ‘fuckkkkkkkkkkk’ constantly.
