my guess is it’s to deter handsy creeps, opportunists and rogue dealers, but in my experience many of the heroes of clubland were dancefloor dynamos unshackled to anyone. A one-size-fits-all policy is too restrictive, esp for people who meet up inside or got held up on the tube.

I’d spotted that from Ministry for the Hard Times daytime events they’ve been doing. I sort of get the theory (as per @Hierbas’ post above) but in practice it’s rubbish isn’t it.

Yeah, I’m sure it’s an anti-creep lone wolf wrongun policy, but creeps hunt in packs too!
Well meaning but a pain if you want to meet people inside or at different times etc. More relevant for a mega commercial touristy place like MoS I guess?

I was the only one from our crew to stay til the end, which I was not expecting at all. It was pretty incredible, so many faces out from different eras of clubbing from all over the country and beyond. Couldn’t walk anywhere without bumping into someone. Mostly an older crowd but not all.
The system in Ministry was really impressive, you could stand anywhere in the Box and still get great clarity and hold conversations in the thick of it.
It felt like a “bigger” set to what he does at Pikes. The peak section was amazing, he’d build it up to a crescendo with rolling percussive housers and twisted wonky cinematic techno bangers then just let it drop and start again, like the sound was coming in waves. Didn’t cop a load of track IDs but I heard FK and Dimitri’s Compass Point early on, a wicked edit of Fatback Band Spread Love, Arnold Jarvis and later on what sounded like an updated or cover version of Moroder’s The Chase. Loads of old house bits in between but the general groove and vibe was pretty disco. The last hour got pretty cosmic, and the final track was a downtempo sweet soul thing with lyrics that said something like “Dont be sad its over/its just goodbye” There’s some shaky illlicit vids on my IG stories which dont do the night justice but gives a flavor of the vibe. Heidi and Lovefingers were excellent in the bar but that space felt a bit too transient. Logan Fisher smashed it in the Loft too.
