Please tell me that’s photoshop.
Think ‘someone’ altered it a touch.
Every explanation offered so far by the dj’s amounts to utter nothing, let alone Mills veering in to the “maybe you’re jealous of how much we’re getting paid” territory. To be honest I’d have MORE respect if they just said ‘we haven’t worked in two years and really need this to keep our houses, etc.” Attempting to equate playing for a private promoter in a country with unjust policies with playing directly for the government of that country does not compute. It’s a false dichotomy.
It’s common place these days, Ame do it for example
I agree if they were honest and say the money is impossible to resist I would still think they are massive whoppers but slightly honest massive whoppers so a small improvement.
By all accounts Brawther was 1,245th on the list of soul-less monotonous house DJ’s they wanted to book but the 1,244 ahead of him have a conscience so he struck lucky the massive whopper. He celebrated by making another shit record called the ‘flog the DJ EP (Digital Exclusive)’
Doesn’t one of them play *LIVE * set when solo and the other djs when on his Tobler?
No idea to be honest, gave up on them when they stopped playing good music and became all plague ravey
Seems to be the thing playing in Saudi right now
It’s beyond embarrassing even before the line up was announced you could pick who was going to be playing there, I never heard of 80% but the rest I wasn’t one bit surprised…
What’s that noise?
Just Frankie, Larry et al, turning in their graves
I asked them what their thoughts are on playing in Saudi. They replied ‘you don’t need to justify art’ and then blocked me ha. They own MTM record shop in Ibiza as well so should know much better.
I think one thing that has changed for me is that I’m a lot more cautious about bigname marquee djs who 10/20 years back I would’ve automatically gone to hear. yes I’m including most house/detroit ‘legends’ too. I think because most of those guys now see it as a globetrotting career, that sucks the life out of many gigs where they’re given 90min on a stage and go thru motions, but unless you’re living somewhere with real venues with the resources, then all you will get are these anonymous festies with the same touring circus and not the sweaty parties we grew up with. and I guess when they roll into dodgier territories, nobody is applying the brake because it is just another gig on another stage to another bunch of gawping seals, and for a lucrative pay cheque. and that is where it has gone so wrong.
Move D reckons he is not playing there now so he either realised what a fuck up he made or he is bull shitting
the “new” Faith (the Defected era)
I get the impression that Faith were a bit embarrassed about the timing of it & having Carl on the cover
They seemed to be saying the right things & not just Carl - Dixon as well
i was thinking in more general terms. remembering how Defected was roasted on the faith message board etc.
the whole move to social media and the new magazine, something just doesn’t feel right to me…
got a .pdf?
Yes that became a very big elephant in the room when it was announced that Faith was back.
They should have been embarrassed having him on the cover pre the Saudi debacle.
I ordered a t-shirt one drunk lockdown night, completely forgot about it…plain black T with the logo. Was surprised when I opened the package there was a defected mag in side… Great T shirt
And at some point someone needs to talk about the carbon footprint of all this too, because it ain’t pretty
