What don't you get

Honey Dijon

Cannot understand the fuss. She might be a sound person but I have heard her DJ twice and it was almost cartoon house. Plus the few records she has released have been crap. I am more concerned about music than if someone can ‘represent’ house musiczzzzzz.

He’s probably mentioned already Lee Burridge :rage: I did like tyrant back in the 00s and their first mix cd still sounds great… But he’s not fooling me with All this away in the clouds lark…

X (Westcoast 70s punkband)… not feelin’ it

Nausea and Johnny Hit and Run Pauline are pretty bad ass songs and they were smoking live but like a lot of punk it doesn’t really age well as we age.

Tbh if you really forced me to shed punk albums I’d hold on to Marquee Moon and the first four Ramones and Clash albums and not really cry in sorrow for the absence of anything else. (I’m removing the velvets and the stooges from this, to me they go in their own category).

Spot on. They seem like goods lads but the tunes are 100% bollocks to these ears.

I live a couple of streets away from the singer (shouter). Comes across as a bit of a div. I can only say what I see and yes the music is beyond awful. He is a bit old for all that ranting bless him.

had a strange exchange with Williamson on MySpace many years back. I made some silly comment about him reminding me of MC Pitman and he sent me a private message late at night along lines of “MC Pitman??? fuck off”. He followed it up in the morning with “I was on the booze but still fuck off”

You couldn’t be more wrong on that. Or on Jason tbh. Not going to start anything about them on here, its not that kind of place.
If you’re a couple of streets away from him you are very close to me BTW.

You are correct.

I may find the music execrable and the public persona unlikeable but they have obviously found an audience and made a lot of money out of it.

However there is a point though where they might start to believe their cartoonish image is actually real and they offer opinion/have a go at others. When they do that they should probably expect something back

They are in showbiz, play the game and they will get their financial rewards.

Tom Waits
Micheal fucking Jackson

All I would say on that is any charges of fakeness or cartoonishness is wide of the mark.

Fair enough if you know the dude then you are more qualified. I am only going off impressions and unfortunately I find their music unlistenable.

Totally unlistenable, and that’s coming from a Fall fan

I absolutely get why people don’t like the music.

i actually think a lot of MJ’s music has stood up really well (assuming you’re referring to the music!!). even the mega hits. 3/4 years back I heard Terrence Parker tease some edit of billie jean in/out for about 10 minutes and it still managed to blow my mind despite the ubiquity

Apologies if they are family or friends. No offence intended, just human nature to judge by impressions. Moreso of those in the spotlight. There have been people mentioned on here (Inc. someone just a few weeks ago, twice haha) and many forums over the years who I have known personally but I accept that pretty much all of us judge unless a saint.

Tom Waits? You’ve upset me now. :joy::+1:

It’s just occurred to me Sleaford Mods are like Half Man Half Biscuit. Primal, basic beats. Shouty bloke on vocals. Just without HMHB’s sense of melody, lyricism or wit
