Where to start… I don’t argue with people on the internet but a couple factual corrections and then hey feel how you feel (but maybe consider why you have so much vitriol about other people’s listening and collecting habits?)-

  1. Neither disco nor boogie is exclusively or primarily collected by white people. Some of the biggest collectors (and a shitload of the biggest dj’s) in both genres are people of color. Perhaps you are universalizing the experience in your country and trying to apply it as a general rule? Biggest boogie movement in the US right now is Funk Freaks, who are Mexicans playing boogie for Mexican crowds just to site one example of many. You should check them out https://youtu.be/4SRSSvEX_gU

  2. Similarly neither music was “a black musical outpouring”. One of the many fantastic things about disco is how multicultural the crews that created it were. Shit just dissect the credits on a salsoul record etc. Vince Montana, Tom Moulton, Larry Gold- not black folks, etc etc.

You seem upset about a bunch of assumptions that have very little to do with the quality of the underlying music and might be missing out on some music you would really love :man_shrugging:t2:

To be fair to him he didn’t dispute that the genres were collected by people of all racial and ethnic backgrounds but rather that the more abhorrent walk of sticker price bore off tends to be white dudes but not exclusively. Their attitude and arseyness is what’s put him off or at least that is how I read it.

Easy now.

Nailed it.

To paraphrase The Dude “That’s just, like, my opinion, maaannn”. Much like @LazySimon 's doggy diss above, he’s entitled to his opinion, rightly or wrongly in this safe space. I’m a passionate dog owner, but I wouldn’t try to convince him he’s incorrect, as that’s his right to have those feelings.

Weirdly our Dog is the least friendly/affectionate animal, he’s from working stock, you’ll get home from somewhere and the most he can do is raise a look from his bed. The Cat however who was feral, adopted me as a kitten is the most affectionate, she’ll come into bed in the morning for a cuddle and happily sit with you all day. Think they did a Freaky Friday…

My dog is mood dependant. One day he will stay in bed when I get home and not even look at me, the next he will be bumming my leg like his life depends on it. He ignores most people when they say hello to him whilst out and about. I actually tell people they are very privileged when he allows them to stroke him. To be fair he sounds just like me.

My experience of cats is getting scratched as a kid by my nans cat and it getting infected and having to go into hospital on Christmas day. Since then I have avoided.

There was a degree of humour in the post you are replying to here that you may have missed. Personally I always think it is a healthy thing to laugh at the pillars of any cultural ouvre(and ourselves). The point is, that the music is the important thing. Price ticket flag waving, dick swinging and boring bragging isn’t. But that is just my take on it of course.

Boots with laces and zips, for people who want the aesthetic of the laces but are too lazy to do them up. I have a very reduced opinion of the wearers, I once accidentally bought a pair myself online and had to send them back immediately.

ok, here’s a thing that irritates the living shit out of me: what i call “prince text”

“to = 2”, “you = U”, “for = 4”, etc. prince thought he was being cute, but it hurts my fucking eyes. i shouldn’t have to get out a decoder ring just to decipher what kind of simple sentiment you’re trying to convey.

my sister does it - both when she writes me letters or when she texts me, and all i can think is that she just never learned to spell things correctly, or she’s just painfully lazy. if i see other people do it, i think less of them. am i a snob? undoubtedly.

This too. I simply will not read or reply to message with text speak.

Also when people think OK is a reply to a message.

I passed a white busker with dreads doing Reggae covers in a cod Jamaican accent t’other day, complete with his equally white & dreads sporting, Trustafarian looking mate ‘skanking’ along.
I was ashamed to be white, my sister thought he was great :grimacing:

This is something I have never been in to so cannot relate to it. How can adults, all men from the people I know, find the time to play pc/console games for hours and hours and hours yet not find the time to shower, put on clean clothing, eat properly, exercise or even sleep in one extreme case I know. Some of these blokes also spend time during their ‘working’ day to watch others play games and it is their only topic of conversation. I have heard them call others they play games with their crew or something along those lines. Often they are married with kids or even grand kids. Quite depressing. I have known of about three relationship break ups because of the blokes obsessions with it.

I play couple of hours a day tops, hold down a job/wife, manage to wash, buy/listen to music and go surfing. I think I’m what they call a ‘functioning’ gamer.
