Never heard of him. Sounds like a bit of a tit
Similarly never heard of him, but seeing a few producers I admire reacting to the post. Almost makes me want to hear something of his.
it’s amazing how he managed to gather such a big fan base in a relatively short time and that he lasted so long on the scene. Discusting persona from start.
Can’t deny his energy and enthusiasm when he’s behind the decks, but yeah looks like he’s a complete douche.
…and there’s me thinking ‘I can’t believe Kikrokos is still going’ ![]()
He isnt shy and plays the Disco hits on vinyl in an enthusiastic manner that kind of suggests he has discovered them or they are made special by his choice. I guess this has been going on for sixty years now and isn’t much of a surprise. Imagine Salt Bae but Disco and I need a lie down.
What’s incredible is that he is allegedly doing this to create a safe space for women, oh and non-binary, trans people who can get two people to vouch for them (which is weird) but when women voice even the slightest hint of concern he blocks them and deletes their comments. Seems super aggressive in his responses to people - the voice notes are atrocious - and from what I know about him he is a teetotal born again Christian but maybe his heart was in the right place but the execution wasn’t. Not sure. People are enjoying the pile-on though.
Come to Brazil and we will change your mind!
(Just kidding, obviously, but we do do it better….)
I rarely venture into this thread but this post needs to be printed out in bulk and dropped from airplanes over most metropolitan areas and sea/ski resorts, like the Americans did back over east germany in the cold war days…
Brilliant.
I’ve met him, and sad to say I got very bad vibes from our brief interaction.
When he was starting out on instagram he had a humble attitude which I believe to have been genuine, but he clearly painfully obviously let the social media fame get to his head. Back then we’d comment on each other’s stuff and he was always nice. Then the gatekeeping/creepy/diva/holier than thou attitude took over and the dude’s ambition overtook his “talent”.
By the time he made it here to play at some friends’ party he was obviously riding too high to have a nice conversation with someone who’d championed him early on. Very dismissive, very worried about image over substance. And with the extremely annoying habit to play every record at +7.
Unfortunately I’m not surprised at the stuff coming out. I’m tired of the era of instagram/tik tok DJ’s, so if one good thing comes from is then I hope it’s the beginning of the end of that.
I also hope he has people watching over him as this type of fall from grace can have very serious mental health consequences.
There was also chat about his female only what’s app group where women/girls sent pics to him to get free tickets to his shows or something. Mega red flags all round

If he doesn’t shut up, he’s just gonna get cancelled, well intentioned or not. I’d say his agent would be freaking out
Agreed.
He’s getting dropped from lineups, so the rot is already setting in.
I’m just really thankful I cut my clubbing teeth at a time when you had no idea who the dj was let alone what they thought about anything.
Gogglebox and ‘reaction videos’
.
Why would anyone willingly watch some fame-hungry, attention-seeking couple sitting on a sofa watching Bake Off? I genuinely cannot think of anything more tedious.
Agreed. dont see the appeal of watching someone else performatively going all wide eyed and acting all “omg this is mad” whilst viewing whats allegedly their first time listening to an artist they’ve obviously heard at least several times before
As a general rule, any video titled “x reacts” or similar will be shit.

Bongos
Bongo bongo bongos. Over a DJ. Supposedly to bring a vibe/energy. But it’s just a bloke with an ego trying to compete for attention by drowning out a DJs selection.
Absolutely… (*almost) always a nightmare, esp when coming thru the DJs monitors, out of time, making mixing impossible.
The worst is that they consider a breakdown or quiet part of a record as a cue to start a solo when the DJ wants the exact opposite. Even when they ‘know the tunes’ and are actually good enough to do a decent solo they just don’t realise that a simple repeating rhythm is usually all thats required.
(* I have played with a couple who know exactly what they are doing and are a pleasure to play with - Shovel and Pascal’s Bongo Massive (RIP). Hon mention to Basil Black II Basics who avoids confrontations with DJs by spinning the tunes himself)
Always remember one particularly amusing Moby gig early 2000s when, amidst all sorts of other stage theatrics, he started banging bongos furiously to his own backing track. (mercifully, not the one that clocked 1000bpm)
