What don't you get

That’s the only one I don’t mind, but it’s essentially a a New Order tune to my ears.

They just don’t do it for me, it’s his singing voice I think

Enjoyed the first season but it just became more and more implausible as time went on

(Not that it was massively plausible to begin with, but it sparked the imagination having visited the old back to backs in Brum)

Speaking of rhyming slang, does most of it date back to the 60’s and 70’s? Have there been modern uses/references added to the vernacular? Am I imagining this or is “having a Thomas” and “Going for a Bradley” even real terms?

Its compounded by all the whoppers bowling about in the bakerboy caps and those Peaker Blinders festivals and events they have everywhere are just laudable. But… I’m gonna stick up for it. It was a great series, full of silly moments for sure but the way they ended it was excellent

Freudian slip there Joe? :grinning:

Absolutely hated them in the early 80’s. Now feel like that whole period has aged pretty well. Never a fan of DM when they started to do stadiums and all that, leaves me totally cold

Tried it, thought it was really poor. Not to my taste

Fact of the day (that a lot of you probably already know but I’m gonna mansplain anyway): A lot of the “American” ways of spelling are just the earlier middle english ways of spelling. In the time that the populations diverged, English people picked up a lot of affectations. The obvious ones being words that took up “frenchified” spellings (eg. programme, flavour, catalogue). The American spelling is just a bit more economical and succinct.

I think that might be my issue with it - although the programme isn’t objectively bad - I just don’t get how it can inspire grown men to go full ‘method’ and try and live and dress like one (he says while planning to do a DJ set as a ghostbuster for his 40th birthday)!

Have to disagree.

No way is ‘grilled cheese sandwich’ as efficient as ‘cheese toastie’

On this theme, it’s driving me mad that barely a single person on tv bothers to pronounce ‘th’…eg ‘vem’ not ‘them’, ‘fink’ not ‘think’… I mean, I’m Devonian so can hardly lecture on pronunciation but, please, it’s the real time dumbing down of an entire generation…

Probably one for the small claims but Peaky Blinder related.
Last month the crew from work went out for a meal at Zorba’s the turkish restaurant. Lovely as it was, I was totally distracted by a group of women on the next table, one of whom I recognised as a british actress and it was driving me mad as I couldn’t place her.
I cast for whispered opinions around the table telling people not to look but…

It is coincidence that all the people on our table barr one had dressed as a Peaky Blinder, it’s a costume thing and Lewes Bonfire, so done quite well and not just a cap and a pair of braces…i digress.

It was walking home alone a couple of hours later that it hit me. Helen Mcgrory!! Blimey, her out of Peaky Blinders, how amazing. A search for an image on google to send to the group brought up her obituary in the Guardian.
Right, not her then. :man_facepalming:

Had to light the log fire past few nights.

The below pic is from this day last year, I’d just spent the morning swimming in Coniston.

Discogs commenters that only talk about pressing quality.

Also, Discogs commenters that always have to make a point about the b-side or mix that literally no-one played, ever, being “far superior” or “the real gem on this one actually”

Pick any drum n bass anthem and that comment is almost always there without fail.
