Knew there was gonna be a reaction lol, the piece was a load of nonsense, the writer exposing their own prejudices.
Everyone knows that techno was invented in Sheffield circa 90 like Manchester & London invented Acid House
Actually 80s Sheffield probably has a bigger claim
The Ibiza Solo Travel Group page that keeps popping up on my FB. Is it just a hook-up page. Seems like everyone just posts their Tinder profile pics…

Yikes. Fucking horror.
Green Velvet too!
Every slide gets worse.
You know it’s not for me, and that’s being polite
I remember Jack Your Body getting to number one and my brother saying “that’s not real music, it’s just someone pressing a button, have you got any Dire Straits?” And now they are Dire Straits. Random thought, soz.
Flash era Green Velvet was so good. What happened?!
Well that has upset me
Dire Straits way more preferable to this shite
It’s the end of days.
There’s no one dancing in any of the crowd shots, which sums it up.
Guy Debord was right!
Wow, it’s actual EDM after the drop as well.
I try not to be too negative about what other people are into, but it is hard not to feel like we are in a bit of a dark musical timeline right now. All this hard edm techno music that seems to be popular with young people.
I met some friends who promote nights for 18-25 yr olds and they seem to be mostly booking people who play Donk, Hard House, the aforementioned EDM Hard Techno stuff.
5 years is a long time in music, but I feel back then you could be at a more mainstream festival and still be able to catch someone like Young Marco (Or whoever did the big dekmantel boiler room that year) on a smaller stage. That doesn’t seem to be financially viable enough now for these festivals to even bother with any more.
Maybe it’s not a bad thing that more underground music has to go back to more underground, grass roots venues, but then it seems like a lot of them are struggling to do enough business to stay open. Plus none of us old fucks are really opening the doors for any of the new blood anyway.
It’s a pickle, for sure.
And then we have this. I’m not poking fun at a lady DJ, I’m fascinated by the apparent fact that she seems to have modelled her entire style and movement on Nina Kraviz. Also, where’s her headphones? Whole thing is just baffling
While the crowd just stands there with their fucking phones in the air. God that’s depressing.
Wow! Wow wow wow. Just… erm
Yeah
