nice one @Moodynann - one of my favorites, and one that i don’t remember anyone else mentioning - so props to you!
a good 20-odd years ago or so, a friend and i drove up for a gig in vancouver BC. i think i was to open and he was the headliner. at the last minute i was replaced, so i brought the gear and drove. great night, in a club that was absolutely a cool multi-level disco in a past life. higher than giraffe snot, we decided to come back to seattle, which wasn’t a terrible idea, as there’d be no line at the border.
we got back through into the US without too much trouble, which was good because i think my pal took the rest of everything we brought. and this song - he became obsessed with it and and i spent the next couple of hours with him in the passenger seat rewinding and replaying the track over and over. it sounded pretty great in my shitty jeep speakers. in our state, anything would have sounded great - but great tracks sound greatest at great moments.
yet another reason to love vancouver, i’ve got tons of stories like these about visiting and i’ve never had a bad time there. should’ve moved there when i had the chance.

it’s an amazing city, but from what i can tell it’s now super pay-to-play. too much hot money. it used to be as cheap as portland, but not anymore.
i will say this: every time i go there, i have a magical experience and i chalk it up to beautiful city planning and some of the nicest people ever. even with somewhat dour weather, the people really show up for each other in ways that i’ll forever admire. i’d say your daughter not only chose well, but will likely be surrounded by good folks.

She took a year off work here, she has friends who are there since last year and one of her friends has family living there for years now so that’s good to know… She will love it, she doesn’t drink alcohol but loves a smoke. Should be OK over there.
