Yeah so good, I still give it a spin every once in a while!
I saw Adamski supporting Big Audio Dynamite a couple of times during that tour, both times he tore the place apart and the bar was full during BAD. Very impressive and just enough ahead of most acts to get all the gigs back in '89. Bless
Heâs very good at what he does, for some reason he just doesnât connect with me? No idea why
I love his reviews, music etc I get you.
Playing in Dublin in a couple of weeks⌠looking forward to that
I like docs which shine a light on things you had no idea about. This is about the white Jamaican descendents of 19th century Germans
I really enjoyed this - have had tons of fun times like this
Came across this documentary last night which was a new one on me. Discusses the link between Brazilian rhythms and hip hop. Some ace footage in this and some fucking tremendous drumming. Shame there no subtitles as you donât know what some of the Brazilian musicians are saying unless you speak Portuguese.
Nice little synopsis of it here
Copious pints of warm flat bitter. Makes you proud.
Good job that everyone smoked
When Brian Wilson did the first international tour of Pet Sounds in 2002, my friend and I ditched work, extending our lunch break and lined up at an in-store signing he did at a mid city HMV.
You could see Brian was tired and not enjoying the process, sometimes slapping the table after each person, signalling ânextâ or âhurry upâ. He wasnât talking or looking up to make eye contact with anybody presenting him with things to sign and we were worried he might call it quits before we reached him.
I had my rare (at the time) Smile bootleg LP which he signed and my friend who I lined up with had his copy of âThe Beach Boys Love Youâ. When my friend presented this to Brian, he suddenly stopped still, his head snapped up and looked my friend dead in the eye and he proclaimed loudly âGREAT ALBUM!â before going back about his reluctant duties.
haha can just picture that! That album seems like a cacophonous mess to me and the vocals are horrendous. Was interesting getting into his chaotic state of mind although as said in the video aspects were perhaps all a bit too public for comfort. Feels to me like it wouldâve have been so much better had they split up after the Surfâs Up album (Till I Die is the last genuinely great tune imho) rather than go through the motions. Hindsight thoughâŚ
