Hard to describe what this Bobby Fingers film is. Someone recommended I watch it. It’s surreal, trippy, intriguing and involves Michael Jackson and magic mushrooms amongst other things. Totally insane in a good (great) way.
a proper Balearic mong sesh
and this classic moment from Some Kind Of Monster, which is essential viewing even if you’ve never owned a single Metallica album.
Nice early Billy Bragg interview with performances. Funny that Billy, like Paul Weller before him, meant SO much to me as a teen, but that’s where I left them. Very much a setting and situation for me with the themes of unrequited love and poetic turmoil. Both widened my education regarding the politics of Europe and exposed me to literature and music that influenced them, so I owe a debt of knowledge, but after a period, it was time to separate. They both got older and lost the fire. I too got older, but still needed the spark of youth in my musical experiences rather than comfy Dad Rock trappings.
Insanely good video - who knew a mix of of model making, horse shit, magic mushrooms and Michael Jackson could be so compelling?
Re: Some Kind of Monster. It’s one of the few music documentaries about a band I could really care less about but is also actually affecting and deeply fascinating. It’s really a type of love story.
currently on a big Swedish trip after goimg down a Merit Hemmingson rabithole. Here’s where it lead me…
OOh yes
Rarely seen clip for the title track from Ultramarine’s brilliant third album, United Kingdoms. This one featuring Robert Wyatt on vocals and in the clip. the album wasn’t well received on a critical level, but for psyche-prog-folk fans who liked a bit of 303 with their Canterbury sound, it was a real treat.
I’m getting some Nigel Tufnel “no don’t touch it” vibes from this interview

I knew one or two people associated with that original court case. Not for me to comment on the verdict but the fallout was pretty ugly
