What are you watching?

Watched a HBO documentary this week called Class Action Park about an insane and dangerous water park run in New Jersey in the 80s. Absolutely amazing watch that really captures a moment in time that will never be repeated (probably for the best :upside_down_face:).

It was shown on Sky this week and is available on their on-demand service I think. Worth a peek!

Reminds me of an Anthony Bourdain episode from Mynamar I think where the Ferris Wheels where propelled by blokes using their body weight to get them going/running, totally bonkers. Gonna watch that too.

Ainori: Love Wagon on Netflix. It’s a (subtitled) Japanese reality show where three girls and four guys travel around on a bus, visiting parts of the world while hoping to find romance and love, kinda like Coach Trip meets Blind Date meets a BBC4 travel documentary. It’s really good because it’s the exact opposite of how shows like Love Island work - the contestants are plain, the budget is low, the locations unglamourous. It’s just very real and human and sweet. It also is really interesting as it shines a light on parts of the world I would never have known about. They spend time in Kazakhstan which I had no idea was so gorgeous or had such specific culture. The show goes from being goofy and silly to heartbreaking and moving - like, one minute they’re in a bus awkwardly flirting, then they’re in a children’s hospital meeting sick kids. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever seen.

And all the guys keep their shirts on and no Duck parade from the girls I imagine. :duck:

one of the guys has a nickname that translates as “Dumpling” and another one is a musician who they make fun of for having only ten likes. In Britain we take Instagram models and send them to beautiful locales; they take a mismatched number of awkward virgins and put them on a dilapidated bus.

Dredd on Netflix was surprisingly okay for a Saturday night popcorn type experience. Alex Garland screenplay, nothing too cerebral, good fx and some nice gore, Cert 18. Rufty tufty splatterfest.

Rewatching season 1 of ‘the terror’ cracking dark gothic tale about 2 boats the erebus and the terror stuck in the ice in the arctic in the late 1800’s and the mens decent into darkness from lack of food and attacks by a strange creature

Just watched the Storyville about the Peruvian surfer lad the other night. Wonderful film-making.
