He’s back training I think, but only yesterday. Could see him start tbh
hella late to it, but finally started watching the mandolorian. i grew up a star wars obsessed kid, so i knew i’d get around to it sooner or later, but since the mega-expansion of the universe i never prioritized watching any of the new stuff, figuring it’d be at arm’s reach when i was bored. my 7yo daughter wanted to watch it, so i figured i’d preview it and see what was what.
good: it’s fairly gritty. has some good characters. fun to see some old faces/robots/species work their way into larger plot roles. it’s shot well. some good guest stars. the dialog isn’t as painful as lucas’ original scripts were. werner hertzog is a nice addition, just the right kind of oddity that should appear in a series like this.
bad: the baby yoda character is still “cute” and after ROTJ, star wars insisted on the addition of “cute”. a couple of the episodes feel like “monster of the week”. a stupidly high body-count, people and alien and troopers and everything die in scene after scene. sometimes there’s just too much aliens. the names are a bit of a chore. overly reliant on the flashback scene of the mandolorian’s parents dying.
i’ll start S2 this weekend, expecting more of the same. it’s fine, i’m sure if i were a kid again i’d love it. probably will wait another couple of years before my kid watches it, she’s sensitive to watching things die. and a lot of things die in the mandolorian.

I found S2 to be much, much better. Less episodic and more of an overall arching plot. The finale is an all timer, as good as anything in SW
Baby Yoda might be cutesy but his relationship with Mando is the heart of the show. Not sure it would work without him
The less said about the recent Boba Fett series the better. Absolute car crash

interesting - reviews that i’ve seen have been generally positive so to hear you and @joe quickly agree that it sucks puts me off giving it a try.
truth be told, i’ll probably be suffering from SW fatigue once i’m done with mandolorian S2 so it’s not like i’ll be binging the boba fett series anytime soon.
I’m enjoying the Bobba Fett series.
