What are you watching?

I watched GGGR recently and was inspired to edit this video of scenes from the film to Wayne Shorter’s main theme.

Thank you for the recommendation, had heard of it before but this tipped us into trying it and now we’re hooked, just what we needed. TP wins again

Free Party a folk history the other night. Some good footage but I feel like the rose tints are fading on it all, felt a little embarrassing to hear a fair few folk from quite privileged backgrounds waxing lyrically about their inalienable ‘right to party’.

Or maybe I’m just old and can identify more with people getting pissed off

Also crime and sexual assault was mentioned but brushed away by a blanket ‘it was bad people’. Well you threw the parties, so take some responsibility eh?

Just rewatched Band Of Brothers after you mentioned it. Still a powerful piece of television, despite the American schmaltz.

Very late to the party but absolutely loved ‘The Invite’. One of my favourite films of the year.

Felt like a Twin Peaks rewatch this Autumn. Still as fantastic as ever.

My wife and I are moving to the Pacific Northwest, and she’s never seen it before. Appointment TV for us before we leave.

There’s a new season of that, isn’t there? I have yet to watch it but Party Down is one of my favorite shows. The Steve Guttenberg episode is one I always remember as just a nice time, and hoping there are really people out there like that in Hollywood.

where? there’s a few of us from the PNW.

Ah yeah that’s the one I just watched. So good.

Up to Vancouver mid-January. We’re super excited.

Watching Sharon Horgan’s ‘Youth’ back to back with the French ‘Call my agent’ movie last night. Same kind of world, very different result. There’s a deep vein of unpleasantness and self-loathing in ‘Youth’ that makes it hard to like, or to laugh. for me.

Wasteman on Netflix

A brutal and gritty British prison drama, an inmates release date is jeopardised by a volatile new cellmate. David Jonsson is emerging as one of our finest young actors.

I thought it was great. Speaking of prison dramas Jimmy McGovern’s Season 3 of Time is coming soon on Iplayer.

Nice to hear this being used in Ted Lasso this week. Even the kids recognised it from the times I’ve played it in the house. The new series is actually a bit more on the money, feels like the writers have sharpened their pencils although the cringe bits are still really really cringe.

That last episode had me crying with joy and utterly devo’d at the same time.

Finished it a few weeks ago and liked it! I think I watched the first two back then, but it was a cool treat that they made another one. I’m a bit torn on the ending, but at the end of the day, I’m just happy s3 came about at all and was so well done.
