The purists will tell you to get a PS Pro but from the specs I’ve seen, the difference isnt enough to justify the price gap imo. And you’d have to decide between a discless machine or not.

I thought Backrooms was great: a really original horror story, stylistically impactful, a strong cast and performances, snappy and not too drawn out.

@shake @J_C @wearethemusicmakers have any of you read House of Leaves? I was reading the wiki for this movie and it doesn’t reference this book, but it seems like a fairly similar plot.

I read it decades ago so I may be lost, but this immediately came to mind watching the trailer. I’ve always thought it would make a great movie. Perhaps I’ll settle for this?

A celebration of slacker job roles, existential pondering, anti-heroes and local class battles. Reminds me of my time working in a car wash as a teen and fighting for your piece of the carpark as a sk8r. Worth your viewing.

The novel is his best book since American Psycho. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook which is narrated by Bret himself.

On the trail of Cassavetes’ Woman Under The Influence, situated on small Italian island. Heat wave selection. Nice movie, heightened impression since the youngest kiddo has watched with me till the end, asking questions about some parts and translations since we had english subtitles. One day I will open summer cinema and this film will be on regular repertoire.

The missus and I somehow found the time to watch three films this weekend which is almost unheard of
The Invite - an interesting look at honesty in relationships filtered through a chaotic and tense comedy. Enjoyed the direction in this one, lots of interesting shots using mirrors to focus on the cast, while keeping the same small apartment location from feeling samey and boring. Best viewed while knowing nothing of the plot. Seth Rogen is always just so good as the everyman under stress
Roofman - A charming and funny retelling of the true story of the McDonalds rooftop burglar that made a hideout inside Toys R Us. This could have easily been a naff romcom circa 2006 featuring Matthew McConaughey but Channing Tatum give its smarts and warmth. Also, LaKeith Stanfield pops up!
Pressure - Who knew weather forecasts could be so compelling? Andrew Scott as a WW2 Chief Meteorologist advising Eisenhower on when to launch DDay. Some big hitters in this but Scott acts everyone off screen with facial expressions alone

It’s quite funny/dry on occasion, there’s some clever procedural stuff and you’re also guaranteed at least one episode of sudden and extreme violence. What’s not to like?

Spider-Man Brand New Day with kids earlier this week
Missed Jon Favreau in this one tbh, lacked the light touch that made the preceding 3 movies in this run a fun watch.
