This was really something. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry. Some of the best swears you’ll ever hear. Heartwarming and gut wrenching in equal measure. Outstanding film

one of my close friends married a guy who’s an ultra-marathoner. he comes from a family of running enthusiasts. they live in tucson, and he’s out there in the punishing heat. to me, it looks absolutely miserable/impossible.
i was mentioning him and his multi-day runs and my brother-in-law, completely unprovoked, was like “i could do that”. i just laughed as he insisted that it was certainly more mental than physical.
what is it with men? the dunning-kruger effect, right there in front of my own eyes.

I rewatched State of Grace last night.
It was a favourite of mine, saw it in the cinema, got the VHS somewhere but hadn’t seen it in decades.
I think it’s aged pretty well. A good cast of up and comings and the score by Ennio Morricone is lovely.
I’ve been a fan of Gary Oldman since the Firm, but a bit like that film this one is a touch over-written. He has a way of delivering lines that must make script writers think ‘more, more, more’.
Still, if you like that kind of thing it’s worth revisiting I reckon. On Prime.
