What are you watching?

They all seemed like a bunch of absolute jokers to me. The main character had the CV for sure, but in general they looked like they’d been pulled out the boozer to go and stick up a post office

Watched the John DeLorean 3 parter on Netflix, a brilliant but strange guy, seemed to self sabotage himself with his greed

Neon Neon (Gruff Rhyss & Boom Bip) done a concept album about his life. It’s actually a pretty enjoyable album. On Spotify if you’re interested.

Watched the Brian Wilson biopic Love & Mercy last night, which I’ve been meaning to catch since it was released in 2014.

Summer Of Soul, it’s now on Disney+

As good as all the plaudits it’s been receiving. Simply incredible footage. Hard to believe the tapes have been sat in someone’s basement for 50 years.

So many amazing performances. A young(ish) Stevie Wonder jamming on the keys is possibly the best musicianship I’ve ever seen and Nina Simone’s poetic / proto rap delivery are the standouts for me but it’s all brilliant

Essential viewing

I am half way through. I found Mahalia Jackson’s performance disturbing. It was so intense. And she said she was feeling a bit off that day. Wow!

Just watched The Father. I can see why Anthony Hopkins got the Oscar. A truly amazing performance. A very clever film, almost feels like a play. Though not an easy watch. May be too uncomfortable for anyone affected by Dementia.

Dementia has become a big reality in my life in the last 6 months with my dad. This was a fantastic film, but very emotional. A horrendous disease.

His TED talk is quite entertaining too. I mean, he loves what he does, he’s never just phoning it in Mark Ronson: How sampling transformed music | TED Talk
