I read the book about the Monster of Florence while staying in a remote farmhouse in rural Italy, Poor choice.
What’s happened to Slow Horses? This season feels very cariacatured, really exaggerating the features of the characters. The scene with the pot of paint in the most recent episode was like Laurel and Hardy
Yeah it’s been disappointing. Still sticking with it in the hope it’ll return to form but it’s been poor. Feels like they rushed it.
A few sleepless nights then?
If it’s the Douglas Preston book I was a bit obsessed with it for a while and was convinced they’d solved it but with more digging over the years it seems not.
A baffling, frustrating case.
I had a call out to an old lady the other night, lives in an old farmhouse in the middle of nowhere. Dark and windy and she said there was someone in her house, had been in her bedroom, but was now downstairs. Don’t believe in any of that stuff yet I was proper freaked out.
Not sure if anyone else here is following The Lowdown. It definitely takes a LOT from The Big Lebowski, and starts a bit slow. However the last couple of episodes have really stepped up and it’s highly enjoyable!
Each episode focusses partly on a new character in the journey of the main character (with Ethan Hawke as a kind of a foil) and they’re getting better and better.
Will give it a shot - thanks!
A film for Halloween or any time really.
One Cut for the Dead.
A low budget Japanese zombie film.
I can almost guarantee that you’ll want to turn it off after 10 minutes. Stick with it.
Don’t google it, go in blind. I promise it’s worth it.
Anyone else seen it? No spoilers.
It’s on Amazon prime
It’s still great but agree this series feels a bit like they’ve phoned it in
I found it all highly predictable. Oldman still ace though, along with Kristin Scott Thomas and Saskia Reeves. I find the actor that plays Flyte so wooden. Next season will hopefully be a reform to form.
On a related note (same exec producers), has anyone gone in on the new Emma Thompson yet? Down Cemetery Road
Was gonna check it out tonight
Oh yeah
Sorry if it’s already been popped but Film Club on bbc is just lovely.
Totally agree, a huge drop in quality, really disappointing.
Seems pretty sub par to be honest
By the laws of Lucy Mangan this should shit all over The Wire.
After saying a few weeks ago that I no longer watch grim stuff on TV, I ended up watching the most recent double episode of 24 Hours in Police Custody today. The Nicholas Prosper case. The absolute depths of depravity. Horrific.
Also finished Wayward recently. It got a little bit ‘teenage’ on a few occasions and Toni Colette definitely carried large parts of it, but ultimately I enjoyed it.
Started Down Cemetery Road on Sunday. It feels a wee bit like what Americans must think it’s like to live in the UK, but I’m still kinda hooked.
Ha yes exactly. Was my thought also . Hmm may be worth a watch.
