It was the choppers that used to freak out my uncle too. Especially the drill that you had to do where the helicopter dropped in the pool and went upside down and you had to escape to safety.
Yeah I watched it over the weekend, thought it was decent but didn’t need to be 3 hrs or whatever the run time was, could have been told in half that time.
Saw foreshadowing parallels with Trump in the manic way his fans responded to him, particularly online, in the ‘Tiger Blood’ days, with his ‘i can do and say whatever i want cos i’m rich and don’t give a fuck’ like he was some kind of hero when the reality was he was a hopeless addict, deadbeat dad and a grass (Heidi Fleiss) at the time.
Would like to see a similar show on Heidi but doubt that would be greenlit in Hollywood for obvious reasons.
Last film I watched of his was Da 5 Bloods which was awful imo so won’t be running to watch that.
Yeah the HUET training. Full thing then refresher every couple of years. I absolutely hated it. I also did the Norwegian escape chute training. Essentially you fall down a net from side to side 
. Bruised for weeks.
Tertiary escape on rigs is a lower platform with steps to the sea… Jump the last 20 feet or so 
Once did a full unannounced abandon vessel exercise at 2am in awful weather in the ‘shadow’ of the installation we were supporting. Absolutely terrifying. Pitch black, half asleep, couldn’t get my life jacket on, went to the wrong muster station. Would probably have gone over the side had it been real…
No wonder everybody working offshore that I met tended to live a pretty full-on life!
The military don’t bother with Helicopter escape training. They don’t sugar coat it, if you come down over the sea it’s the same as hitting concrete, survival extremely unlikely. The only way they can get civilians onto choppers is to offer you some ‘comfort’ with training…
The best part was when he caught his wife falling off the wagon and indulging in cocaine again and chastising her for not doing it right promptly showing how to convert it into crack and smoking it that way instead
Watching “Mussolini: Son of the Century” on Mubi and it’s fantastic; very stylized and aggressive re-telling of the italian novel that came out in 2018 that was put together using historical documents
Have cancelled my Disney+ subscription in light of the Jimmy Kimmel saga. A small but satisfying step (especially when giving my reasons on the feedback form). Hopefully millions more will be doing the same.
It’s literally the only power we now hold.
Same, cancelled Hulu. Easy move as we hardly watch anything, but don’t want to support any company making moves like that.

Watched ep 7 of Alien Earth and have come to the conclusion that it’s absolutely naff.
As good a reason to bin the Disney subscription as the Kimmel cancellation if you ask me 
I watched half of the first episode (downloaded via a specialist online ‘site’ ) and suddenly thought “why am I watching this fucking bobbins?!”
We will polish off Black Rabbit this evening. It’s had its moments but overall it’s pretty ridiculous. Anyone else?
