I know what you mean, I used to see his work when i read the Guardian & Observer regularly, 10/15 years ago, & it never connected with me as a working class northener whose family or friends could have easily been in those places & pictures.
At the time I remember thinking there wasn’t any warmth or dignity of the people portrayed, felt like working class caricatures for the middle class to safely observe.
Not seen his stuff for a long time so dont know if i’d still feel this way now.

So much trouble in the world, etc this documentary is just the ticket. Incredibly heartwarming and will have you in awe of nature and these incredible birds. Nice one @Nice2CU2CUNice

She is from our city and our friend wrote a book about it. Amanda is smart and resilient. Saw the trailer and it was surprising how much the actress was emoting–horrified looks, etc. Amanda was very careful not to be emotional until the end. Nobody could tell what she was thinking. Also the perky walk–no, no, not all! Pretty hilarious. Interesting to me that she collaborated with Monica Lewinsky in producing. IMHO one of the few signs of progress in our day is that Monica has surpassed Clinton in public opinion, and really come into her own.
Yeah, it was a classic case of the press wilfully misreading every sign and signal. The famous shopping trip she took to ‘buy lingerie’ was because she couldn’t go back to her flat and didn’t have any underwear.
BTW I worked briefly with Meredith Kercher’s sister, who seemed lovely. Awful how their story has been totally sidelined.

We have a humming bird feeder i can see from my bed… We call them all Jeff. They come a lot… They love that nectar. Gorgeous animals… and they make a great sound as they arrive…

The Paper - the follow up to the American ‘Office’ although that doesnt really amount to much more than the fact its a faux documentary set in a workplace. Tim Key plays the Ricky Gervais role i guess. Would have been interesting to see what Tom Basden did with it instead.

yeah - saw some promos for M&W and they were incredibly underwhelming.
We watched the new Netflix doco, ‘Unknown Number: The High School Catfish’ - talk about a wild ride!!!
Feel really sorry for the girl & the other victims caught in the centre of all that, what an absolute nutjob the perpetrator is.
