It’s a hell of a journey from Vyvyan to this (via Star Wars) innit
DEVO doco on Netflix
Majestic
South Park so good again this week
Season 2 of Dark Hearts now on iPlayer.
Quality French drama about a secret intelligence unit hunting French Islamic State jihadis.
Season 1 ended on a major cliffhanger so looking forward to diving into this tonight.
Totally (and a great poster). I’m a sucker for a murky film noir.
Thanks for that. Tonight’s viewing sorted ![]()
The Devo doc (as someone said above) on Netflix. Very good! Top people.
I love it when art meets pop
I enjoyed the documentary but I was struck by how much I’d ignored Devo’s music and upon hearing it in the film, I realised why. They fall into the same camp as The Rezillos for me. Kinda interesting concept but poor execution.
I kept wanting the out and out pop sensibilities of the B52’s…
I’m probably in a minority ![]()
I didn’t really know much about them other than Whip It and the flower pots but I enjoyed it, loved their piss taking, sarcastic sense of humour, Jerry Casale is hilarious, nicknaming Neil Young ‘Grandpa Granola’ made me LOL
Mark Mothersbaugh was/is a renowned member of the Church of the Sub Genius, so we always kept an eye out for Devo stuff. He went on to do loads of film soundtrack stuff, memorably the Lego Movie. I’ll look forward to watching this doc this evening.
Yeah loved all that. The music felt like a bit of a ‘difficult listen’ for me though. Apart from the commercial stuff I suppose.
I’m not averse to arty pop, but most of it didn’t resonate with me.
(Haven’t seen the documentary, but) he also did subliminal messaging in his commercial work outside of Devo.
Just watched ep 3 of the new series… really good…
I don’t think you’re meant to like it
Invasion on Apple TV, slow start, sucked me in now approaching mid series 2 and beginning to realise it might be complete cobblers ![]()
Platonic is good though.
Katrina on Netflix. Heartbreaking.
Watch it few weeks ago… very hard watch…
Watched it this weekend, it’s a city I really love and makes me so angry to watch - but the stoicism of so many of the people they interviewed is amazing.
