Watching the new Netflix doc on the hunt for Bin Laden.
Dreadful so far. Skirted over the invasion of Iraq completely.
Failed to acknowledge the comprehensive failings of the security services to prevent 9/11
The arrogance of the CIA operatives makes it very unpleasant viewing. Lots of bragging about ‘flies crawling on eyeballs’ and macho bollocks from the comfort of their Washington desks.
I thought Andor stuck the landing beautifully. Given its ending was kind of already known, it was bitter sweet and poignant while managing to duck the pitfalls prequels usually fall into, and gave its characters meaningful and satisfying endings for the most part. SW is usually very black and white, good vs bad but this has been wonderfully nuanced and complex.
Without its Star Wars / Disney attachments, I think it could (should?) rightly sit in the upper echelons of prestige dramas alongside some of the greats of the last few years.
Three episodes into the eternaut on netflix while I wait for my weekly TLoU fix - similar apocalyptic vibes, Argentinean show set in Buenos Aires where a mysterious overnight snowfall starts to kill people - premise a bit like TLoU, science fiction, and probably an allegory for the military junta take over.
Absolutely dreadful. Its so bad I dared myself to keep hate watching it just to get more annoyed. Only started watching it because I half enjoyed the original 90s one.
Managed to get to about 20 minutes in when the rebel twisterteam turned up, and what I assumed was the future love interest and at that point decided it was the worst film I’ve ever seen and had to stop.
Dope Thief on apple TV
Enjoying this… bit predictable at times and certainly a flight of fancy but i like the style if it and central performances pretty damned good… i’m hooked for the moment anyway.
Enjoying “Overcompensating” on Amazon Prime. Fresh-ish, fun - and with enough space to consider actions and consequences and the complexities of coming out, esp. in younger years.
If you liked “Big Mouth” on Netflix you may like this, though it’s not as chaotic or open.
