Tonight’s viewing- bit under the weather and for some reason old b+w’s always fit the bill- I think it’s because old movies remind me of being sick aa a kid , bottle of lucozade or hot ribena and all that
Was it filmed in Canter-bury?
Apologies, in advance.
It’s so good ain’t it. And it just continues getting better. Strap yourself in Chris, you’re in for a treat
I used to love those ones as a kid, classic BBC2 fare
Tribe’s back…
Caught the end of this last night. You have to take your hat off to him dont you? Way too many scenes of men vomiting though, and not enough of Bruce tripping balls.
Caught up on a couple of things over the weekend. Not sure quite what to make of the Severance finale. Some really good elements - Mark’s inny/outy conversation was very clever, the marching band scene was hilarious, nice twist at the end. But it’s feeling a bit overblown and ridiculous as well. I imagine I will be there for the next series but season 2 hasn’t been as brilliant as I hoped.
I’m loving White Lotus, great characters, brilliant use of music and the tension is really building. Looking forward to the conclusion. The way they’ve kept a common vibe each season but with different characters and settings is very clever.
I’ve always really liked him, he doesn’t muck about. I remember an old episode where a guy was just following him around with a bow & arrow threatening to kill him.
Bruce fucking loves it. Lives in Ibiza, or at least used to. I accidently spent a very memorable few days with him over there, many moons ago, due to mutual friends. He’s a lunatic, lovely bloke.
The host tribe in last night’s episode were proper piss takers. “Make him carry this”. “Let’s try to not kill him.” Absolute gold ![]()
Think he moved to Wales a few years ago.
Finished season 2 of The White Lotus last night. So good!
Finished Adolescence, agree with some of the comments above, I thought it was good but it’s not a masterpiece as some reviews I’ve read. I thought it glossed over the actual issues.
Strong performances though and some of the one shot scenes were really the impressive (ep2 drone scene).
Also finished Toxic Town which I really enjoyed. A good story told well.
And just started on Paradise. bang average so far but entertaining.
Last one laughing was also brilliant. Richard and Bob on top form.
I feel like I must be missing something with Adolescence. I couldn’t get past the second episode. It felt like it was going for that realism with the performances and the filming style but the dialogue was really clunky and the procedural stuff just not believable (or accurate?).
Sorry, but for me, if you take away the single shot aspect of it there wasn’t much there. Of course the topic is absolutely important to highlight, and if it does that then that has to be a good thing, but I really don’t get the hype.
The hype train always needs feeding but it hardly ever delivers IMO. Netflix and Prime the worst offenders by far.
When my 84 year old dad is asking if I’ve watched it you know the hype train has called at every station! ![]()
I’ve taken a step back and decided to not watch anything for a couple of weeks. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the new stuff.
Sames, the other night I convinced the Mrs to watch the French Connection in honour of Gene Hackman (which I’m ashamed to say I’d never seen before) and it was great to step off the TV treadmill.
I honestly don’t know how people find the time to watch everything
