What are you watching?

Quite enjoyed Day of the Jackal. It got a bit silly but still watchable. Morally questionable as time went on though…

Watched “Boy A” from 2007 starring Andrew Garfield.

If you’ve seen it, you’ll know the effect it has. I thought his performance was outstanding. I’m still feeling it today.

Thanks for the link, launched straight in on the classics

My Star Wars obsessed son suggested we watch the new series Skeleton Crew. I was dreading it but the first one was actually really good. Very Spielberg. Hope it doesn’t go downhill.

Watched Megan last night. Nice use of skatt Bros thrown in there.

Started rewatching the Sopranos for the 3rd time (I think) last night. The writing is just… unparalleled to any other show imo. It’s so ambitious. Junior mentions ‘having to do something about Tony’ in one of the first two episodes and ends up doing what he does in season 6.

Yeah good isnt it. Really enjoying it. Exactly what a Star Wars at Christmas should be like.
There are some musical motifs in the score in later episodes lifted straight from The Goonies

We’re all 4 episodes in. Really enjoying space goonies.

They should have cast Josh Brolin in the Jude Law role for some proper Goonie reference points, it’s getting a bit Kids film for me, but I guess that’s the point.

Apparently the guy who wrote it lives in Brighton and his local is called the Black Dove.

So not written by Chat GPT at all.

Tbf I’m actually enjoying this. Last episode to watch tonight. It’s v silly obvs. But I like the locations and some of the characters are great. The two female “triggermen” especially.

But……

The thing I never believe is how quickly they get around London. “I’m on my way…” and they are there in minutes. Everyone knows it’s an hour every time. But I suppose of all the unbelievable things about it, this is likely far down the list. Still annoys me though.

Really feels like it’s made with American market in mind, makes sense for Netflix

Watching it too, final episode to go.
I said to my Mrs, it’s got the Slow Horses mild comedy + drama, tongue-in-cheek / suspension-of-disbelief thing going on.
It’s lovely, but it’s more of a caper than a drama.

She loves it and didn’t like the comment :joy:
It does make London look amazing though. Amazing sets and locations.

Criminally under-rated Christmas film on iPlayer

Just finished Girls5eva on Netflix, the story of a short lived girl band getting back together as middle aged women 20 years after they broke up, to very little interest but that doesn’t stop them.
From the people who made 30 Rock so very similar, silly humour and loads of pop culture references and jokes per episode.
I thought it was great, the 4 leads are all good and the writing is hilarious in places, apparently it’s just been cancelled after 3 series though.

it’s way funnier than the trailer makes it look imo.

Charlie Cooper’s Myth Country was good fun

Just watched rebel ridge. Was expecting Sly Stallone vibes. Was ok. Terrible ending.

Also watched kneecap this week. One of the standout films this year for me. Thought it was brilliant

I was underwhelmed by Rebel Ridge as well, saw the trailer and thought it was gonna be an action fest, like First Blood, but it was just bland.

Been watching a film a night for the past few days. All very good

It’s not Christmas without at least one viewing of Die Hard.
