Incredible movie - nearly as good as Apocalypse Now itself
That story is bonkers. They all lost the plot as much as Schultz in the film. Well worth a watch. The Redux version of Apocalypse Now also needs a mention - it’s definitely the remix to get lost in.
I stumbled across this Flemish-language series about undercover cops tracking down the biggest ecstasy producer in Europe. I’ve watched all three series, and it’s consistently good.
I loved this show. Can also recommend the prequel film and series Ferry.
I just watched the new Richard Linklater film Hit Man based on a real life undercover citizen working for the cops. It wasn’t amazing but I dug it, More so than the fact I meant to order takeaway dinner from a really great restaurant but got the name wrong by one word and ended up with food from the far less superior place next door to it.
Recorded it and gonna watch on Sunday! The film is one of my all time faves so always wanted to see this
Love this also
Absolutely loving Eric two episodes in. I really hope it doesn’t shit itself toward the end
The colours, clothing, hair and music alone make Eric worth watching. The emotions conveyed in the dancefloor scene with no words spoken are something else. Sometimes it feels like a disjointed, confusing acid trip, but in a way that’s enjoyable.
Thank you for mentioning the clothes and hair - pitch perfect - Vincent definitely looks a bit like my dad at around the same period
And the way they light detective Ledroit is
+1 for Eric. Also two episodes in. Great music too.
Exhuma was crap.
Fingers crossed for episode 3 usually make or break for me.
I’ll hold my water until you’ve got further in to Eric.
I’d be interested to know your thoughts.
Just finished ‘A Man In Full’ on Netflix, the last scene was a bit of an eye opener to say the least lol
Charity shop find, 75p, Robert De Niro’s debut as a Director.
Probably not watched it since sometime in the 90s, watched it this evening and enjoyed it but i’m a sucker for gangsters & vintage NY, bit Goodfellas lite in places but overall good stuff, some great music included as well.
With you on that, some great tunes in it - love the Donald Byrd one. On the Mob front, just discovered there’s a Mob Museum in Vegas, never fancied the place before but this puts a new spin on it…
There’s also an associated podcast (of course there is) done by a couple of ex FBI or something agents which I’ve only just started to listen to but the first episode is pretty engaging, whether it continues or goes off the boil remains to be seen.
And finally… Just started this on C4/Walter Presents - The Hunter about a Mafia prosecutor set in the early 90s against the backdrop of the massive wave of violence at the time. Only seen 1 so far but seems pretty good (although the lead bears more than a passing resemblance to Borat and I can’t shake that thought ) Italian organised crime dramas always seem a lot more menacing to me, not many of the lighter moments and levity you get in the US films /series.
Nice one, will check them both out
Episode 3 of the Camden thing on Disney+ is worth a watch. The Roots, Giles Peterson, Norman Jay, Soul II Soul etc. The other episodes look a bit shit.
I gave that a deliberate miss on account of Noel Gallagher being in it and used all over the marketing. I mean is it really necessary to have him in everything, dude pops up everywhere. He’s such a rent-a-gob. Shame cos I’d probably find some of the episodes interesting
