Finished it last night, thought it started really good, loses it’s way at the end with a Hollywood ending, the characters are a bit cliched as well, very black and white not much murky grey.
Like a lot of Netflix series it could have been told in half the number of episodes.
Cumberbatch is really good though imo and the music is great throughout, Supernature sounded so good I had to buy it off BC right away.
One of the few family things we can all watch. It definitely fires up the travel bug! Cynic in me does wonder how the managed to be so close at the end though.
Celeb one next. Last one was slightly less challenging. Hope they push them a bit more on this one.
Being a bit obsessed with Asia this one was right up my street. Great people too. Really, really curious about Indonesia now. Gonna binge the first three seasons next week.
Was holding off viewing this thread as only just seen the last episode of Race Across the World tonight and as mentioned earlier it’s one of the few things we sit down as a four to watch too. Wasn’t that arsed at first when Mrs CovKid and son started watching a few years ago, mid covid I reckon. However it’s really grown on me. Gets my two looking at maps and globes which I’m all for. The two winners this time, annoyed me initially but again I’m proved wrong - nice to see such a strong bond between them after all their struggles. Indonesia too, looks great and cheap as. Not sure where they’d do next as huge chunks of the globe are off limits. Australia? Alaska to Mexico but they did Canada last year I think.
I reckon you lot might like these channels. Different kind of journeys, usually illegally jumping freight trains across countries, often together, always winging it.
I do all the cooking in my house, therefore I’m always watching cooking vids to learn new tricks. This guy speaks my language with the dishes he shares.
I have roast potatoes perfected (in my humble opinion )
Preheat oven to 180
Maris Piper or King Edwards, peeled and cut.
Par boil in water with a large spoon of Marmite, a sprig of thyme and rosemary and 4/5 cloves of garlic.
2/3 tbl spoons of goose fat in a roasting tin into the oven for 5 minutes till spitting.
Drain potatoes and aromatics and give a good lashing of salt and add to roasting tin before giving a good shake, and back in the oven.
Take out after 20 mins and give the potatoes a bash with a metal spoon.
Roast for another 25/30 mins.
Voilà
My friend cooks killer roast potatoes. He parbroils then straight in the the freezer for 2hrs, then piping hot oven for the roast. They are ridiculously crispy and delicious. Not sure about his seasoning regime as I haven’t paid attention enough.
