What are you watching?

The Korean series really bug me, they always seem to dub over some horrible Korean/American mix cartoon voice on all the characters, just watched Parasyte; The Grey on netflix and only watched it half arsed because the voices irritated me.
The 100, the Squid Games, cash in/rip off was the worst, laughably bad, all these Koreans dubbed saying ‘FRICKIN’ AWESOME!!’ every 30 seconds.

See also Dominic West on The Wire. I think it’s something to do with Brit actors being cheaper than Americans in America or maybe I’ve made that up?

Paired with Underland which is also about caves & prehistory, strange dreams last night.

Maybe watch in the original language with subtitles. That way you get the real vocal inflections and acting nuances that were intended. I understand that some people are dyslexic/have reading issues, but if you don’t it’s usually a better option.

Anyone watching series 2 of the Responder? Stretching believability quite a bit and pretty similar story arc to the first one. Some superb stuff from Bernard Hill (RIP) and Sue Johnston though - showing how it’s done.

Yes, we are two episodes in. To be honest it hasn’t gripped me yet. We’ve decided we are going to re-watch series 1 again before we continue with series 2 to see if that helps.

Yes. Watched first two so far. Agree with your view on it.

It’s an anxious watch, mainly.

My other half stopped watching for that very reason. When the young lad is left with the baby :grimacing:

I couldn’t cope with the first series - every cop show cliche in the book plus “faux Mod sprinkle” Martin Freeman who just annoys me these days for no reason.

If you fancy a laugh, watch About the Young Idea, The Jam documentary, and marvel at teeny tiny Martin Freeman walking down the street trying to look cool. I watched it on my phone coming back from NY last week and I woke the girl up in the seat next to me laughing :joy:

EDIT. In fact here’s a GIF I made of it :joy:

Starting The Jinx Part Two on HBO tonight.

I genuinely can’t remember what happened in the first series, it’s been so long.

Shame on you YouTube for not getting Piers Morgan the help he so desparately needs.

All Good Things with Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst is pretty much based on Robert Durst’s story. It’s a decent enough film!

I finished Shögun. That’s going to come top of all the end of the year lists, I’m sure. Beautiful, poetic and quietly affecting. The production values were top quality. I just loved the atmosphere of it, and without going into spoilers it didnt wrap up the way you thought it would. l’ve seen it be accused of being frustrating for that but i thought it was the correct choice and in-keeping with the tone of the show. Really brilliant series and so well done

I’m not that much of a poetry person, so I was surprised at how much I enjoyed some of the haikus and their use at key moments to set the scene.

Totally agree. Will go back and watch end to end as I felt I missed some nuance watching one episode a week.
