What are you watching?

Somehow I read Dune when I was about 12 … I can’t even remember now if I really understood it or even liked it. I know it made enough of a mark that I understood the Lynch version when I saw it on home video or TV, but I lasted about 20 mins of the new one before deciding I couldn’t be arsed with it, even if Rebecca Ferguson is in it.

Definitely sets a very high bar. I loved it.

Yeah I agree. For that time as well, a truly remarkable film visually

High Desert
Patricia Arquette Ep1, started last night, might be good, reasonable so far.

Fallout
Hmmm… not so sure now, 5* Review on the Guardian never seems to be a good recommendation.

Might have to start in on Ripley… :man_shrugging:

Ha ha yeah I’ve started to realise the same.
I couldn’t watch more than one episode of fallout …
Solid 2-3 stars for me

Just watched Manhunt on apple+ about the hunt for John Wilkes Booth. Decent but not mind blowing (unless you’re Lincoln).

‘you don’t have to have played the game’ the review says, however my wife was totally confused
it feels like they have stuck too close to the game, they could have had more fun with it (and less gratuitous violence)
my son will make us watch the whole thing anyway so it doesn’t really matter what I think

I’ve never played the game, watched 6 of 8 episodes. It’s ok, it’s not as good as The Last of Us, which I also never played. Never got into gaming

It might not be on the radar of anyone with older kids but Bluey just put out a special 28 minute extended episode and its genuinely one of the best things on TV. I didnt have something in my eye at the end though, oh no not me

Is that on Disney+ ? (I don’t have)

You don’t to have played the game to consider it poor quality tv is more like it

we’re enjoying it, and had no idea it was based on a game, although we had thought it might have come from a graphic novel due to some of the screwy humour

I quite like Fallout, pretty fun and likeable

Different strokes for different folks

Yes, the latest one is on Disney+ but all the others are on iPlayer

Crooks on Netflix, massively over the top in places and fairly ridiculous plotting but good fun. Marseille tourist board will not be sponsoring this one.

Yeah she’s watched all the others about 100 times each i think !!
Apparently one of the most successful TV programs of all time… not hard to see why. Hope the new one makes it over to IPlayer eventually

Thanks for posting this. I saw the Minghella film as a teenager and was enthralled. As an adult - not so much and this was part of it…

The ending was so satisfying and a great capstone but the penultimate episode had the laughs. Bruce was fantastic…

Ken/kendra … Lol

The Mrs made me watch this at the weekend, she loves anything with a time travel element. Pretty underwhelming but does feature a (very badly acted) cameo from Harvey playing a record store owner. It is also amazing how little chemistry there is between the two leads.
