Palm Springs on Prime. Very enjoyable
The football

Been eyeing that up. Will give it a go.
Really enjoyed that.
This was a great watch, there is also one on Outkast which is very cool too. Holla
I’m watching the Stephen Lawrence three part documentary on BBC4, which I assume is a repeat - I felt like I knew the story but not really in-depth with all the twists and turns, truly shocking.
The Mauritanian (Amazon)
The film is based on the diaries of Mohamedou Ould Slahi on his time held in Guantanamo Bay prison. Jodie Foster is excellent as the lawyer that takes on his case as is Tahar Rahim as Mohamedou.
A solid 7.8 redacted documents out of 10
Watched a couple of episodes of the new HBO series ‘Mare Of Easttown’ which is so far shaping up to be pretty good. Kate Winslet is almost unrecognisable as a failing Detective investigating a local murder. Her acting credentials have been held in high esteem by myself ever since the magnificent fisting scene in Ricky Gervais’ ‘Extra’s’.
Also, if you haven’t seen Gervais’ ‘After Life’ on Netflix I highly recommend it.
The Fountain (MUBI)
Aronofsky‘s tale of immortality, death, love and loss. This was pretty much universally panned when it came out, but I love it. Visually stunning and definitely one that needs repeated watching
Passed me by that one. He’s a great director. Will check it out.
If football’s your thing, Different League: The Derry City Story on BBC iplayer is an uplifting watch
First dates hotel.
A middle aged woman just screamed, “I fucking love house music. I’m going to Croatia soon with 7 gay men”.
H.O.U.S.E
Agree with most of the above. Call my agent, Terror, Unforgotten, great binge watches.
Really dug “Party Down” on amazon, paid for, but cheap. Comedy gold, bit of a sleeper about the catering industry in LA. Slow start, but like Parks and Recreation gets better and better. Each episode is set around a single event/party, the Funeral one and Steve Guttenberg’s birthday one were particular highlights.
Indulged my inner teenager and re-watched The King of New York last night. God, it’s enjoyable.
Fairly exploitative carnival of violence, drugs, attractive women, heavy handed moral redemption, police death squads and Christopher Walken in, uhhh…. peak…… punctuation…… disregard mode. Laurence Fishburne’s Jimmy Jump is a pretty fantastic turn too.
Love that film, Jimmy Jump’s a great character, a real B Boy bad guy, the shoot out, chase scene that begins with Schoolly D’s ‘Am I Black Enough For You’ is fantastic
Sherpas (Netflix)
Really interesting documentary in terms of who the Sherpas are, and the dangers they go through. The events take a very tragic turn and how some of the expedition leaders and climbers really show themselves up for entitled twats. One scene in particular near the end, when Russell explains (lies) the situation, is tough to watch.
Intoduced my girlfriend, who’s a New Zealander, to The League of Gentlemen.
It’s quite cool to read the screenplay
Interesting to see that the “what’s in the cup” / dancing bit seems to be a later addition or improvisation
Starstruck on iPlayer. Very funny
Just ‘purchased’ the first thee episodes of the latest Handmaid’s Tale series, were on Hulu night before last…
Back with a bang. Harrowing!
