What are you watching?

I’m unclear as to what AI has done to it? Either its John’s original vocal or its not. Anyway, I like it. Not earth shattering but a lovely full stop to a recording output that will never be topped. Paul’s decision to add the orchestra elevates it from what could have been a very mediorce song.

AI (really machine learning) only used to split John’s original demo into seperate piano and vocal stems, enabling it to be properly mixed (on the demo the vocal is quiet and gets lost in the piano).

Versions of this ML stem-extraction technique are coming to lots of digital audio tools now. Been in Koala Sampler for a while, and is in the latest FL Studio release. Lots of potential for edits!

Yeah, wondering if it will trigger a whole avalanche in cleaned up demos from other heritage artists who didn’t have the tech?

I’m hopeful for an AI clean up of Steely Dan’s Second Arrangement, so Gaucho can be heard as originally intended.

Tough one that, Jesus.

Upon first listen to the track, it sounds like The Beatles set the blueprint for every indie band that followed from the 1980’s onwards!

Jeff Lynne should be taken outside and dispatched swiftly :face_vomiting:

Such a beautifully moving video. All the iconic details. What a farewell

Get Gotti on Netflix

A fairly well told tale already and nothing much new but goes into deeper detail around the court cases and wiretaps, some good audio of him caught on tape being a proper wiseguy and some great footage of 80s New York

Enjoyed this, those cops planting the bugs… massive kahuna’s.

Watched it at the flicks the other night. Very well made. It’s criminal how he was so tortured inside and not recognised by the industry either. Some of the commentators annoyed me a bit though as it felt like they were using him to project politics. I’d rather they only brought in people who actually knew him or studied him in depth. Had no idea how risqué the og Tutti Frutti lyrics were!

8 Bar - The Evolution Of Grime. Shown in the BBC “Storyville” series.
Not a form of music that is to my taste, but a brilliant film which shows the underground, DIY nature of this scene which grew organically in East London estates. Even though it’s put together using lots of amateur footage from the late 90’s and early 2000’s, it already looks like a distant past (no laptops, smart phones or social media) and all the music being distributed via small batch vinyl, live DVD’s and cassette mixtapes .
Evidence of the creeping gentrification/hipsterisation of the area as well. “Rhythm Division” records on the Roman Road, which was the hub of the whole scene, is now a flat white/avocado on toast style coffee shop.

Yeah I saw that too, again not something I’d usually be interested in but fascinating the way the scene developed, proper local. Think watching Top Boy made me more open to it aswell. Shame about the caff or is it café??!!

Yeah I watched it too and really enjoyed it. The club night up in Watford/Edmonton/wherever looked insane. Not very Balearic :joy:

:grinning:surely a 10 min Tears for Fears remix would’ve gone down a storm(zy)…??!
