new season of Lupin on Netflix

Reluctantly watched the Beckham documentary on Netflix which I thought I would hate but I have to say it was bloody brilliant. Discovering the guy from succession got talked into making it by the succession producers is mental. On top of that he was already a respected documentary maker and an obsessive football fan who only became aware of Beckham during the Real Madrid days. That was the reason they hired him to make it. He had no idea of the toxic hatred due to the infamous sending off during the World Cup.

Essential viewing.

Just finished Top Boy, thought it was excellent throughout the 5 series.
Think it’ll be one of those shows that stays with me such was the quality of the writing and performances.
Still thinking about that last scene.

on my list.

A cynic writes: its a shameless attempt to cleanse his brand after shilling for the Qatari regime last year.

Fair point. They apparently filmed his response to the questions regarding Qatar but the director decided to leave them out. Still a very interesting doc despite this and yeah I would agree it’s particularly well timed.

Me too. I wanna talk about the last scene too, but it would maybe spoil it for some. So many possibilities.

I finished it a couple of weeks ago too, thought it was great. What a horrible brutal business it all is.

Shows like that are sometimes accused of gloryfying that lifestyle (normally by people who haven’t watched) couldn’t be further from the truth with Top Boy.

I guess the answer is that it could be one of many different people, which sums up how he ended up pretty much on his own and alienating everyone … for nothing.

I’m no fan of Kevin Hart but this is funny…

Yeah, the scene with Deshane kind of showed that even “ brothers” who grew up together are alienated from each other by the life. Brutal and also ongoing.

Yep, for what?
They destroyed their relationship’s, friendship’s, community, themselves…all for money they could never enjoy because they were at constant war.
Sully was eroded to a shell at the end, like he told Stef, there was little or no humanity left.

Sully has got great taste in outerwear. Faultless.

Always got the badge in.

Agree 100%, was watching the final episodes of Top Boy the other week and was thinking ‘nice smock’ etc.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard Larry speaking until now.

I was unaware of Beckham’s World Cup send off and subsequent hatred. Insanity.
I’d be keen to know which of the forum members is willing to put their hand up and say they were part of the pile on?
Seems when he was winning matches again, the fickle crowd decided he was ok again. From an outsider’s point of view, there’s something primordially beastly about watching Brits en masse when it comes to sports. Gawping fat bastards who couldn’t kick a ball at a barn door blaming the team effort on one guy. I know if I haven’t lived it, I probably don’t get it. Enlighten me.
