Enjoyed is probably the wrong word for this, but essential viewing and another Storyville winner.
“Short” termism wins again. Making the “difficult choices” in the easiest direction
Very late to the party but we’re enjoying Schitts Creek a lot
We don’t get Adam Curtis in the states so I was glad to see so much of his work is on Youtube. Started Russia 1985–1999: TraumaZone (for you iPlayer folks) last night. Incredible footage, taken from recently digitized BBC camera crew b-roll - thousands of hours of tape about the fall of communism, rise and then eventual fall of democracy. Hypnotic, educational, touching, haunting about human experience during this incredible period of time. 7 hours of doc, but well worth it.
you must check out Can’t Get You Out Of My Head then (and more of his work), all free to watch without the cleared music bits (as is on YT) over here:
Most recent series of Rise of the Nazis on iPlayer, about Nuremburg and the aftermath, powerful and shocking, particularly the archive stuff.
You can’t keep the damp flannel off the telly, but I have to say it’s quite pleasurable watching him get a pasting.
Watching this too, it’s been very good. The way iPlayer has it in sections of 3 threw me a bit as I jumped to the last bit after the first, but figured out what I’d done and am back in the right order and on track. User error…
Close to finishing season 2 of The Bear and I just found out the Boiling Point TV series starts this Sunday. The movie was great so really looking forward to this
TOTP repeats on BBC4, one from '91 is on atm with Oooohhh Gary Davies presenting, pop ravetastic so far with Rozalla, Bizarre Inc, Sabrina Johnson and this turd.
The Alien abduction/invasion film No One Will Save You is pretty entertaining!
The Bureau for the second time.
Saw Jolyon recommend it during the first lockdown and I can safely say its some of the best (if not THE best) TV I’ve ever seen.

Incredible TV.
One of the best ever.
I just rewatched The Wire and got so much more out of it than I thought I would. Might have to go again on The Bureau.
“Oi I’m trying to run a high class bureau de change. Not some titbit nipple peep show in Rio De Janeiro!”
“I’m closing the Bureau…for an hour” ![]()
I’ve just finished watching the whole Twin Peaks saga with my daughter. Was thinking about the Wire next. Seems to be on Sky only unless you can point me elsewhere?
Seems they won’t ever do a series 6…
George Clooney is making an English language version. Not sure it’ll work.
