Started watching Yellowjackets after a few recommendations. Decent mystery box type thriller / horror. Christina Ricci is brilliantly unsettling
Also doing a re-watch of Breaking Bad to see if it’s still up there with the best TV of all time. Not watched it in over 10 years. It definitely is, some of the writing is sublime.

We had tix to Oppenheimer but the AC broke down and 3 hours in a sauna didn’t sound appealing. Rebooked for Barbie and agree - it’s fabulous. From the 2001-inspired opening to Gosling’s performance and the set design. Also maybe the best closing line of a film in years…

Took my kid to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles : Mutant Mayhem in 3D this week, decent, think I enjoyed it more than her tbh, think it was a bit too boyish & not enough songs or pink in it for her taste.
I liked the animated style although it was too dark in places & you couldnt really make out a lot of what was going on on screen which wasn’t good.
Ice Cube is great voicing the baddie Super Fly.

Saw this last night. Utter madness.
From the comments… “I just saw this over the weekend with an introduction of the current film curator who took over from her - Dorris Wishman’s original version of this was taken and she had to re edit the entire film from snippets of bad takes (I don’t recall seeing any of these shots from the trailer in the actual film). She directed this in her mid 60’s as well.”

Took my lad to see it today. Really good I thought. Definitely a boys affair. Banging 90s hip hop heavy soundtrack. Shares some DNA stylistically with the Spiderverse movies which can only be good.
Forgot to mention the soundtrack, yeah really good, De La, Tribe, ESG & Liquid Liquid…

It was something else! Marcus’ too. Ritchie’s coming of age though was some brilliant television, found myself rooting for him. The show really draws you in to the characters and it’s a great thing to see them all come together. It just felt good!
