What are you watching?

Yeah Juliette Lewis is such a legendary lady.

Finally got round to watching Everything Everywhere All At Once last night. Wow, what an incredible film. Quite possibly one of my faves of all time. Utterly bonkers and brilliant.

Amazing film, didn’t really know what to expect and finished gobsmacked and grinning with a wee bit of dust in my eye

Yeah she plays the part well as does her younger self. Chrisina Ricci steals the show…

Don’t watch too many movies these days as find most underwhelming but not the case with this, loved it. Couldn’t quite see how Jamie Lee Curtis took a best supporting Oscar over Stephanie Hsu but deserved every award it got

Rewatching generation kill for the first time. Hasn’t lost its edge.

Forgotten how powerful Generation Kill is. Still highly recommended. The dialogue and content are seriously on point.

Just watched this documentary on charlottevsille 2017. I remember it happening but re-watching the footage after trump left office is chilling. Crazy how the city and state let a bunch of nazis take over the town and kill an innocent person. Even more crazy is how much trump pushed for that type of behavior, he is a racist nazi himself.

Anyone watching The Mandalorian? Seems like its lost its way. The new series is a bit of a mess at the halfway point. It probably reached its natural conclusion at the end of series 2. Not sure what kind of show its trying to be anymore

I watched that as well last night, seems like the FBI were split into 2 different fractions, the negotiators and the gung ho hostage rescue team and the gung ho cowboys wanted revenge for the 4 dead ATF cops resulting in the tragic ending with all those dead kids.
If the negotiators had been left to do their job maybe most if not all of them would have got out alive, all the kids at least anyway.

Just watching the first one it was like they fucked it up right from the get go
Totally unnecessary and lead to years of ant-gov’t terrorism & conspiracy shit

yeah I agree but it’s a natural dilemma for any siege/hostage situation. they were dealing with unpredictable fanatics, there would have been wild realtime rumours about dark things taking place inside with immense pressure from the top to get it resolved. Although the US had experience of loony tune cults (eg Guyana), this seemed to be on a whole other level (firepower wise) and I guess nobody really anticipated the carnage that would follow or their blind allegiance to the end. I also think that the federal govt 30 years ago (pre-Tea Party etc) maybe wasn’t yet aware of just quite how hated it is by the god n guns goons.

*For more on Texas, I thought the Rich Hall BBC series a few years back was excellent. Behind the folky veneer, a very sharp mind. Top recommend.

Yeah, I can understand it was a very difficult situation but there were needless, stupid, reckless actions like replacing the negotiators that Koresh had built a relationship with and which had lead to 20+ people being released, driving tanks over the members cars, crushing and destroying them just as negotiators were getting some momentum that was just pointlessly aggressive and served no purpose other than making Koresh dig his heels again, immediately arresting the woman who had left to be with her young child and then showing her in an orange jumpsuit in prison on TV which lead to the members inside seeing no reason to surrender and probably lead to the disastrous ending.
It was costing the FBI a million $ a day apparently and someone high up probably just thought “enough”

I agree.I used to be very excited about new eps now they are sort of meh, and they always end too early in weird places…hope it comes back to being good.
