I swear this happened to me last night:
“Alexa, play the Bounce by Kenlou”
“I couldn’t find the Bounce by Ken Loach but here is some other music by Ken Loach”
New Donald Glover series starting next Friday on prime. This should be good
So, I just finished Aftersun.
Bit of synchronicity with that film. I happened to get recommend a teaser clip for it on YouTube a long while ago. I didn’t know anything about the film, but the title of the clip or scene was “Actually I’m her dad”, and that was strange enough to make me check out the clip. Watched the clip, was interested. Filed it away to maybe check out at a later date.
Fast forward some time and it’s being talked up like mad on the forum. Then I started seeing it everywhere, I couldn’t get away from it. So it was like, fine, I get it. I’ll watch it. Glad I did. Very atmospheric, ambient, really interesting visual decisions in terms of shots and imagery. Plenty of open-to-interpret bits, but on the whole, an interesting rumination on coming of age (both in childhood and adulthood), as well as sexuality I think. Not an entirely explainable experience on the whole but profound and striking nonetheless.
I watched Aftersun on my earlier flight and loved it. Didn’t try too hard but the message was evident at the end. Thought both the actors were excellent.
New Luther film is absolutely ludicrous but quite entertaining.
Do you need to have watched all of the TV series first? I never managed that.
Luther - it was very silly but i enjoyed it - love how he could fight off 30 guys in the prison, but Gollum with a blade is too strong for him.
I’m watching teen tech horror series Red Rose. Equally as silly, but you Brits have a knack for ott drama that can’t be beat.
Not really but it’ll give some of the characters a bit more context. All you need to know is he’s a cop on the edge!
Empire Of Light. Beautiful and bitter sweet. Really loved the score by Trent Reznor too. Top performance by Olivia Colman as well as per
Binging the whole lot ![]()
I think it’s probably better not to have. Hardcore fans seem to have been deeply disappointed with the film. I’ve only ever seen one episode, so treated it as a ridiculous but diverting couple of hours.
Can we talk about the last of The Last of Us yet? Has everyone watched it?
I’ll watch it tonight…
not yet!
NO SPOILERS
I’ll say no more. Aside from I didn’t expect them to get married like that…
Watched it last night, kept thinking it was a case of “if I’m not gonna be the next Bond then I’ll make my own” ![]()
It’s the great Quincy Jones’ birthday today, 90 years young, reminds me I watched the Netflix doc on him for the 2nd time recently.
Absolutely incredible life, came from absolutely nothing to working with everyone from Duke Ellington to Big Daddy Kane and everyone inbetween.

Yes, obviously I knew what was coming though
Look forward to everyones reactions when they have caught up with it
Am really looking forward to watching my favourite characters get eaten alive, it’s the best thing about this genre
