apparently if he goes to a really bad small / family run restaurant he just pays the bill and doesn’t write about it; he only goes for big-money corporate places like this (fair play)

Bouchon Racine is great. Had an epic lunch there on Thursday. Decent value (relatively) too. Highly recommended.

Used to go to the old one which was also ace although I’m hoping the less bougie Farringdon location will be better. The other restaurant mentioned Les Deux Garçons sounds great too, thinking we need a trip to Lyon/Toulouse soon.
For French in Farringdon I (used to) rate Cafe Du Marche
Havent been for 5 years but its been there for 30+ years doing the same thing very well
