I’m really keen to see the Still Out film but don’t think I’ve got the Brixton club experience in me
The Valencia Place arches are classic Brixton party spaces but quite a long way from what you might call a ‘club’!
I’ve been to events there since the late 80s, have promoted parties there, etc etc - it’ll the ‘toilet experience’ that might be an issue if anything.

I learned this recently: in the 50s & 60s the CIA bought the rights to & printed millions of copies of 1984 for underground distribution in communist countries (where it was banned)
Now 1984 is banned in schools in multiple US states.
Never heard this quote before
It’s hard not to think of Jenny Odell’s quotation that “even the idea of leaving capitalism is something capitalism is now selling us.”
Always, always true
Although I’m not sure if I’m down with a return to feudalism
According to Yanis we’re already well on the way to Technofeudalism ![]()
It’s hard not to agree with a lot of his analysis.
Got a lot of time for Yanis
or “it’s easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism”
Indeed. I still can’t get my head around how so many on the left became cheerleaders for the EU after the Greece/EU crisis. The referendums on Scottish Independence and Brexit were eye openers for me. What happened to Syriza, and Greece, was forgotten, ignored or didn’t even register at the time.
A good interview on it here
A torrential storm here kept me up half the night. Caught up with various blogs
And a good Matt Anniss chillout piece I missed at the time
Think it’s been linked to previously but worth another look for anyone who missed it. A great selection of primers, everything from ‘Norwegian Space Disco’ to ‘Haruomi Hosono’ on this site: Guides
Joe Muggs did a balearic guide

I’m worried this is going to be really shit ![]()
Somebody really needs to do a Spinal Tap on business techno. Something clever that isn’t just coke and swimming pools. There’s so much material to work with.
It’ll obviously struggle to top the original but I don’t think they’ve made a bad film. I can’t wait.
Same. The first is one of my fave films of all time. I’ve literally watched it over 100 times. I’m scared to see this based on the trailer…
