Ha! I lazily convinced myself it was the same person. Had visions of an 86 year old man producing proper music.
i like it, but i have this weird thing about children’s choirs in pop songs - can’t stand em’.
yes, this applies to talk talk’s “happiness is easy” as well, which is a beautiful song ruined by an unnecessary group of schoolkids.
don’t get me wrong, kids are great and i hope they sing their little hearts out, just not in pop songs.
Prefer the instrumental version from the OG 12 but can’t find that on YT. That bassline and chant though.
EDIT: Spoke too soon.
New one in the series from
Just found him via mulemusiq’s Bandcamp email.
His new one sounds lovely and perfect for TPers:
Really digging this.
This too.
A privately released early work of Yukio Kondo, who now works in MOKA☆, a duo composing music for movies, TV dramas, and animated films. This album, “Alone”, was co-produced with Kaoru Mori, who is known for creating TV commercial works (CM) in their hometown of Nagoya. “Alone” showcased a variety of indie sounds based on Roland Promars synth, the occasional TR-808, and some rock band tracks. Personally, the album shines best at its most electronic—be it the quirky and bouncy synth-driven “Feel So Fine”, the soft, 808-driven “Isadora”, or the borderline new age “El Sueño” with its shimmering synths. The tracks featuring a band are also great—from the city pop/AOR-esque “Darling” and “Alone” to the rock-ish “My Valentine”. There’s something for everyone here!
(Great YouTube channel too, stuffed with obscure Japanese bits)
a thing of beauty
Not going out in this weather
Haha I feel seen. It took me quite a long time to accept the children’s choir in “Happiness is Easy”. Now I just take it as another uncompromising choice of Hollis & co…
