Wow. Memories. I bought this exact tape off a stall on Venice Beach, September 1992. Absolutely played it to death; it literally fell apart. I was only thinking about it the other day on seeing Doc Martin on the latest Faith lineup. Some shaky mixing on it but the overall vibe is great and in my mind inexorably linked to some incredible pills and very good times. Thanks for posting!
Some good stuff on the channel⦠I like a bit of shakey mixing.
Loved that album
Thanks to Dr. Rob and the ever groovy Ban Ban Ton Ton blog Iām listening to āZoo Zuluā by Finis Africae from the album Finis Africae, sometimes known as Prima Travesia, on Spurtifly.
Seems like thereās a reissue with added tracks due late June.
This is Fourth World music of the highest grade, right up there with some of Jon Hassellās best.Donāt even bother with that Eno-David Byrne collaboration which has not worn well with time, IMHO. Iād heard the previous Finis Africae comp, * A Last Discovery : The Essential Collection, 1984-2001*, some time ago and it didnāt make much impression on me for some reason. Looks like the sequencing might have been iffy and it didnāt include Dr. Robās fave track, āEl Secreto De Las 12.ā
Always nice to have a reason to change oneās mind about a piece of music favorably!
I remember Doc Martin from the old days around San Francisco. Not that I knew him well, but he was around. Then he moved to LA. Always a bad move.
Lord Echo āBe Thankfulā from Rarities 2010-2020 Japanese Tour Singles on Soundway.
How many covers of this song are there? This one is competent, faithful to the general oeuvre of the song. That is, not particularly original.
Just finished listening and highly recommend Sanctum Unmasked podcast, about the worldās most exclusive and expensive sex club. Totally wild.
Clips of the new 40 Thieves on Leng.
Would love to hear a 40 Thieves disco mix/dub of Eddie Chacon. I reckon theyād be a great pairing.
In Italy for a couple of weeks.
Had this in my ears driving along the Amalfi Coast yesterday. Sounded perfect.
Found this Idjuts related record hiding in the shelves. Sounding nice right now.
Packing up records for some building work and came across this album which I havenāt seen for years.
Big fave. Had both the original pressing and the 45rpm double album. For some reason I sold the double and kept the original. Much better pressing on the double. Timeless music from Lissvik.
