Wackies - White Plains' Finest

Always seems to be another gem to discover from their seemingly bottomless catalogue. The rhythms are just so slack and deep.

Only just heard this

Pretty much an all time favourite

Flawed but fascinating hip-hop crossover attempt

Not at all familiar with their catalogue. What would you recommend starting with? What are your favorites?

Such a unique label. This is a documentary about them on youtube.

I guess stuff like this would be considered the classics

Loads of it is reissued and kept in press so it’s quite an accessible label.

A friend used to go to one of their associated one stops in the Bronx and pull boxes of the stuff. It’s definitely on par with Dancemania in terms of having a seemingly endless catalog.

Wackies sampler 1,2 & 3 are on Apple Music, not sure about other services. May be a good place to start
