USB sticks - New Balearic Technologies

…well usb sticks aren’t really balearic are they? but still pretty useful, so tell us which one is your favourite and which should perhaps not be in our pockets, at the moment there are some (obviously) pop Extreme Pro’s here, some Fit Plus and I really like them, small and sturdy, the very popular Ultra Fits are out of my radar since some years, too much plastic involved, but the Extreme Pro’s…well…they are too ‘skyscraper-ish’ so anyone can bump into

Anyway anything related to the topic (digital storage for DJing) should be welcome here, share your setup, but please don’t come and tell me you have an ‘antistatic brush’ for your usb stick

Oh and you can also express your love for CD’s here!

lottalove to you all

SanDisk 32gb on sale:rofl::rofl: although alot of my more professional audio/film friends swear by SD cards because upload time way faster

I use these. Cheap and get the job done. I guess they’re slightly more balearic than the black ones ha

Oh yes they are nice and much creamier than the black/dark grey ones I use. My problem with plastic USB sticks is that I have a fair amount here that are cracked right at the connector and I always felt a bit weird using them…dropping a piece of plastic into the CDJ slot and ‘sorry, uh…turn on the lights please and does anyone got a pair of tweezers’ Anyway the pink one is for Italos, isn’t it? :pinched_fingers:

the USB 3.0 version of these. Biggest size I’ve found is 128GB. 3.0 speeds a must unless you want to wait forever for Rekordbox to put your lists in order.

this is really good for me, as I have a newish Mac with usb c, so no converter/dongle needed!

Can someone please help me as I’m a newbie to this - trying to upload a playlist from rekordbox to my CDJs and about 6 tracks are saying they’re “unsupported” and won’t load.

Doing my head right in - have imported via iTunes the lot, they’re analysed and playing on RB but USB into the CDJs, nothing.

Need this sorted for tomorrow (don’t tell @Joe)

*apologies this is the wrong thread - told you, I’m shit at this.

You should get an offer of a document telling you which tracks weren’t supported, this is usually because they are too large (like 24 bit 96k hz files that are too large)

In this case you need to downsample the files that are too large to a size that the cdjs will accept (like a 16bit 48k hz size)

Is this what you mean? or do you mean the usb itself won’t be picked up by the cdjs?

It recognises most of the tracks, just around 8 of 60 aren’t playing.

I thought iTunes would import them and sort the bit rate - so do I need to do something in audacity?

You could do it in audacity, but that might be too time consuming. I use a batch converter for things like this.

For straight up converting, i use this one.

Set it to a standard format that will be accepted by most, if not all cdjs to be safest. I go with 16/48 aif myself, but you might prefer flac. It’s up to you.

Someone else might have a better batch converter.

Thanks Giles, will give it a whirl first thing and report back.
