Track ID’s - Name That Tune

++++ if Andrew Weatherall had played it it would have gone …

obviously not this,

but I think Ricky has played this one quite a lot too. there’s a slight overlap, at a stretch it sounds like he was trying to re-make it live, with a siren rather than an engine. just about…

I used to think this too but he’s grown on me a bit from clips I’ve seen over the years and he can play some brilliant records when he wants to. Ridiculously self indulgent though.

Way too self indulgent. He doesn’t get much love here in Brazil anymore after he cancelled his last gig here on the day of, leaving the organizers with a very big bill. He should take it down many notches but obviously won’t.

I love the fact he’s an individual in a sea of mediocrity and clearly doesn’t give a f*** what the non-believers think. He takes the music and the drugs seriously.

(Not cool to mess promoters around though tbf).

To be fair he’s earned the right to play the music that he does. His crowd expects it, and years of being uncompromising has gotten him to the point where he can play whatever that ear bleeder in the clip is, and his people won’t run screaming from the dancefloor.

Reminded me that I was going to start an ‘unlistenable’ thread after hearing a particular Michael J Blood track
.I think I’ll leave it

I thought this was amazing and unlike anything else around at the time.

Bit too short from RV(2)

Big on Faith when it went all MNML and A:rpia:r. Liked the odd bit, but a whole set would require some serious narcs.

RVs remix of Shackletons Blood On My Hands is an amazing thing

I found minimal mostly pretty impenetrable. It felt designed to neuter your senses. Sonic morphine. There was this nihilism about it all. I still find it fascinating though, like one of those surreal dreams that intrigues you for ages afterwards. I remember one after party that looked like a cattleshed, or paddock, maybe in shoreditch, lots of security fencing, desperately trying to find my friend Fiona who usually worked on doors, just to hold on to humanity, whilst you wondered if this was what death is actually like in the long term, endless grey imagery, clanking sounds, contorted faces, wondering if it would ever end or if we were condemned to look for the exit forever.

I think that’s what is known in the trade as a ‘floor cleanse’

a couple of slow cyberdelic electro chuckers from Rude 66 last year on Intergalactic FM.

  1. Vocaroo | Online voice recorder
  2. Vocaroo | Online voice recorder

Really would like to know these.

Not sold on most of his stuff, but this modular synth techno meltdown from 05 is otherworldly.

Or maybe I just like austere dance music as it helps with myt tinnitus lol.

Ester Brinkmann - Maschine

Nah but for real, the champion of champions. Wolfgang Voigt in da house!

Studio Einz - Greune 3

Most of the poppy/designer ketamine mnml or shoegazing trancey stuff James Holden purveyed can get the fuck though. It is all or nothing with this stuff. Minimal techno more than mnml. A pedantic distinction to some, but it works for me.

I do find some of the trashy electro house Ivan Smackhead played around that time fascinating though. When all dance music was getting better in production the stuff he played was deliberately trying to use digital technology to produce the kitschiest sounds possible. Murky waters n dat.

Anyone know the version of ‘Solu Music ft. Kimblee - Fade’ on the new TP Tornado Wallace mix? It’s from around 30mins in and sounds so much better than the original that I remember.

It’s the Original as far as I can tell
