I love Ween. I didn’t expect to see them in a Daft Punk top ten though!

They played Freedom Of ‘76 in their (Thomas’ really) Essential Mix from '97, the Ghetto House drops out, Freedom Of '76 comes in then back into some House.
Killer mix.

All of these are new to me. Not all are new.

Mystic Jungle - Don’t Stop Your Love

  • I bought it for the cover and by some vague association with the Italian scene that is springing back to life and what an absolute gem. I haven’t listened to the rest of the EP yet as this is the sort of tune that gets you in the mood to mess up your collection and do some half-arsed, haphazard mixing.

Maurice & Charles - Moroder In Milan

  • went on a Weatherall seek and ye shall find mission this week and this was talked about a lot. I dare to say possibly sounds better today than when it came out. Proper heads down tackle. Quick Discogs purchase from Germany and in the ever growing ALFOS section it will go.

Jessica Duncan - Do You Wanna Get Close?

  • a remake of an Italian library classic (or so they tell me) by Alessandro Alessandroni and it’s a low slung soulful monster that doesn’t do much but does it all. Perfect early doors sway your arms about record.

Kölsch - Cassiopeia

  • a b-side sunrise special. Doesn’t do a whole lot but what it does is perfect. Nothing reawakens the 20 year raver in me than a piano 4/4 record and this is magic. Good for a long night drive as well.

Blay Ambolley - Simi Rapp - Multi Culti edit

  • another one that is just a groove. No space for the lights show, just a lost in your spot record that I’m sure will continue to make it’s way to the listen to pile for years to come.

And that’s 5, other 5 things…

  1. 90’s Boca Juniors home kit.
  2. Pink adidas forum gore-Tex lows
  3. The Jockey slut Weatherall tribute. Read it multiple times and it’s a treasure trove.
  4. Cricket on TV here in the US. Watching South Africa get pummeled by NZ wasn’t what I wanted though.
  5. Ted Baker. Never ventured in that direction before, but their pants and jackets are mega and somehow fit my 6’4” frame well.

I don’t understand why they had to butcher the toe cap. That’s a design that needn’t be fucked around with.

I kind of like it. Got so many forums it’s nice to have one that doesn’t look like the others. Might drive me nuts I the future though.

I’m super traditionalist when it comes to changing the silhouettes of kicks. That whole craze a few years ago for “hybrids” where Nike made Frankenstein combos of various shoes was the worst trend in a long while (especially the Wedge Dunk for strippers and Spizikes).

Just saw a picture of them in the Heavenly book which made me want to hear more from them than just that Rocky & Diesel mix. Look mad.

I’ve got another later one of theirs they released on eve of the first Gulf War in 91. Trust me, Get Higher was as good as it got with the Moonflowers! I loved Get Higher. Reminds me of such a specific moment in time.
