Thanks for all your kind words and sponsorship, made it round the marathon in 3:35, happy with that on windy day ![]()
Tryinh to regain running enthusiasm so started doing park run which is such a wonderful thing
Have you tried going to bed listening to white/pink noise to mask the tinnitus?
It’s funny but my wife and I blast out the tumble dryer sound from the Calm app out of a Bluetooth speaker all night. It helps to filter out city noise and also has a strange, womb-like effect that is conducive to sleep. Bit like how Wayne Rooney used to sleep with his hoover on…
I’ve tried various apps and white noise generators but they seem to exacerbate my T.
It’s listening to Peep Show on YouTube at the moment that gets me off to sleep ![]()
I used to do that with only fools and horses, engaging enough to keep your mind off but familiar enough that you don’t care if you miss something.
Rain and quiet storm noises send me off a treat.
Exactly this
Have you tried this? Tinnitus Sound Therapy
Paper is here (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0378595525001534?via%3Dihub)
Tinnitus can be really challenging; however, it is working for me at the moment. ![]()
I dedicate 1 hour a day to it, and while I’m working, I completely forget about it.
Have you tried a tinnitus chiropractor? A mate of mine said it worked well for him, although his tinnitus wasn’t caused by noise damage but was a TMJ issue.
I do have that bookmarked!
Plus this
I swear it started for me when I clenched my jaw really hard upside down underwater on an offshore helicopter underwater escape training course

We’ve all been there.
On the topic of tinnitus mine started the day after an acid trip about 10/11 years ago and has just never went away. I find it bizarre how that was what seemingly caused it for me.
One day I’ll write the book!
I need to hear more about this!
Did my first (and probably last) half marathon yesterday, completed the Hackney Half Marathon in just over 2 hrs 21 mins First 11 miles were surprisingly comfortable, but really struggled in the last 2.
What an amazing day and amazing atmosphere, crowds were 4-5 deep in some places. The energy and positivity coming from the spectators was a wonderful counterpoint to Yaxley-Lennon’s mob on Saturday. This was London (especially East London) at its best.
Well done Ian - that’s a great achievement. I did a half marathon once and know exactly the pain that you experienced at the end. What a buzz though !!
Nice one - they say you can split a half marathon into two sections - the first ten miles and the last three. Also, never say never again!
Honestly the best thing I have done health wise in years is make sure that I drink enough water and take 3g of creatine a day. Brain fog gone.
Not going to run a half marathon any time soon though, that is a mighty effort.
Creatines a mad one I’ve suffered from depression and anxiety for the best part of my life and then I started taking creatine every morning for a couple month til I ran out and looking back I actually felt so much better. It’s been a few months without it so I’m gonna buy some more and start taking it again to see if it actually was the creatine
