We’ve had a week of waves down here, been pretty amazing after a loooong drought. Amazing how quickly you lose your surf fitness, really only one way to keep it, surfing. Mind you gets harder and harder. Quite a few friends are broken and have quit. My boards just keep getting bigger!
Getting back into running after long covid knocked my sideways (18 months ago)

In lockdown I was running (further all the time)
Sorry if a boast but pretty proud of this 10km best
That’s a great time.
Problem is social media. Everyone is portrayed as having everything and the pressure to be like everyone rise is exceptionally high.
Plus everyone’s default is to be a troll. Internet is a mean place bar here.
Cracking hike around the Coniston fells this morning, followed by an hour in the plunge pools above Coniston coppermines. Not a sheep carcas or dryrobe in sight
That’s gorgeous.
Thats impressive. I struggle to get my times down these days, blaming my age. Can hit 23s for 5k on a good day but those days are getting more and more infrequent. Never go more than 7/8km, keep meaning to but I tend to head for home on the routes I use rather than push on.
Those pools look very inviting on a day like this.
The pools are amazing. Been swimming in these since i was a kid and I’ve never found any better in the whole of the Lakes. The water is surprisingly warm and crystal clear.
Yep, its been scorchio for the past week here, sweating me tits off on this mornings hike so straight into the water!
There must be some science behind this but I find if I go somewhere I went as a kid that had happy memories that I feel lighter. I almost regress a little.
I would be too, that’s fucking FAST
I missed out on the Brighton half marathon in Feb but before that I’d done it every year for 6 years
Gives you a reason to get out in the Winter, especially post Xmas
Love those long lonely runs along the coast
Wow! That’s beautiful.
Best half marathon was Amsterdam 2018
Starts in afternoon so you can fly out that morning
Nice & flat
Obviously with all the lactic acid in legs afterwards I daren’t risk flying so had to stay for a couple of days recuperation
Be rude not to
That place looks stunning! Need to get myself down to the Lakes sometime soon.
If ever you’re in the area mate, giza shout. Happy to point out some hidden gems for you
Grew up playing tennis, gave it up for many years, but started playing 3-2x weekly for over a year now. Never been happier exercising. Mostly clinics but I’ve made a few connections and play doubles every once in a while. A humbling sport but amazingly fun. Plus it only heightens watching the pros on TV.
