Arto’s story is well documented so nothing new in this really, at least for those of us who lived the Flip era. Having said that, it’s a heartwarming watch. Being from Finland and having gotten into skateboarding in the late 90’s, the whole crew of Arto, Rowley, Penny, Appleyard… these are THE guys for me.
The earliest Tom Penny footage, filmed at his mother’s place in France probably a year before he blew up and completely changed the game… pushing mongo
This guy, again, is so good…
Amazing skater and from reunion island off Madagascar
Dunno how many are into snowboarding, but this is a great watch. What’s surprising is that he’s on Monster…

Everyone has been kick flipping wrong
Take it back to the mobflip, if it’s good enough for Gonz
unpopular opinion - i kind of hate the kickflip. it’s too ubiquitous. it’s a bit unnecessary, a sort of gilding the lily when a simple ollie would do just fine. kickflips are the “teacher’s pet” of skate tricks.
heelflips - those have a style that kickflips can’t keep up with. shoot a photo of a heelflip, you know exactly what happened. shoot a photo of a kickflip and depending on the snap, it looks just like a regular ollie (depending on the catch). a heelflip looks like casual magic, plus you get to lay back a lil’ and trust the magic under your body without the hunched-over shoe-staring posture most kickflippers adopt.
if people valued the heelflip (or the pop shuv) as much as they valued the kickflip or tre-flip (also worn out), skate videos would feel instantly fresher.
One of the best skate videos I’ve seen, laughed the whole way through
Yeah he’s exactly what sk8ing needs right now. Genuine cool guy.
Unbelievable… the first clip alone is mind blowing at that spot… Even Janoski was speechless lol
