good letter that, some of the more druggier end of london deep tech from old grime/UK funky boys is quite mental, check this one for some great bassline action. Stream KG3 - Pretty Woman (Refix) by KG3 | Listen online for free on SoundCloud
And also you should check Green Velvet Ministry Of Sound Session album. It didnt come from South London in my opinion, it came from US like all everything about music.
yeah have a lot of tapes from the chicago OGs. Been in this game for a while, the house/techno division in the midwest of the USA is virtually nonexistent, and I think thatās best. No reason why one shouldnāt hear a vocal cut next to some demented 135 bpm jackin acid.
Surprised not to see any eddie richards in this thread. Always loved how his productions are so raw without a whole lot going on, but thereās always a sprinkle of soul from a well chosen sample or melody to get you. When the little synth line drops at 3mins or so it always gets me.
Tech House
Not always a dirty word
Correct it is two words
When I started buying house music, it was this sound that I gravitated towards. Being up north, I felt a bit removed from the āLondonā scene, but I kept up through buying releases, reading magazines and getting my hands on mixtapes. Iāve enjoyed reading this thread - loads of names that I really rated - Asad, Nathan Coles, Pure Science, Bushwacka etc.
Iāll add on with some of my favouritesā¦
Havenāt heard that EBE tune before. Really nice
I donāt believe Charles Webster / Presence has been mentioned here. He represented the more soulful tech house side. āGettin Liftedā was caned by the likes of Terry Francis at the time. Two great examles here off the Unreleased Stuff EP which I still have on vinyl fortunately.
A true genius!
Love The Strength on the flip too. Also The Spectrum EP.
Mr C played some nice sideways grooves on YT last night (timestamp)ā¦
Absolutely! Been digging his most recent outing as well
Letās continue with Charles Webster, and add this absolute banger to the listā¦
Just got a reissue on Mint Condition. Donāt miss !
Killer label that Headspace - check the Cim track b/w Sean Deason on that label
used to buy everything on pandephonium which led me to owning this seemingly unplayable record:
i sold it a few years back for impressive money. probably played it thrice, it was way too fast and spindly for me. it felt like pre-gabber, only it was contemporary with gabber. 150 BPM is a no-manās land, unless youāre playing it in a half-time dub style.
this howling dog track is much better, but that āinterferenceā record put me off those guys so that was that.
