Tech House, not always a dirty word

Love that Hawke record. Literally wore the grooves out on it.

Nathan Coles was another who was doing good things

Great shop, used to love popping in there…this was a favourite on the Swag label

Remember buying this one too

Anyone remember Instant Quality in Soho, pretty sure Murf had something to do with it? Dave Mothersole used to work in there as well as Swag

I love that Ame Strong track

A few more - was gonna add the red and treeman - great 12

Bushwacka was an integral part of the scene, if not just with his own productions, but engineering loads of stuff at Mr C’s studio

Loved that Plantastik album

And the 12s he did on Plink Plonk

Never heard those 2 so thanks for them.

Think he seems to have gone for the making a track funky and constantly changing rather than the minor alterations for 10 minutes snooze fest lots of others did.

Was a good interview with him on Fabio and Grooveriders show late last year about why he left Hardcore and didn’t make the transition to Jungle.

Yeah listened to that too, v interesting

Amazing DJ too, you can definitely tell he’s someone that has perfected his craft through so many years of experience. Loved to hear him play in the bar at Subterrain at the End, playing everything from hip hop, breaks, acid house…that was what tech house was all about for me

I remember Layo and B playing this kind of sound in the bar at Subterrain. Really enjoyed it at the time, but not sure you could play it now.

Some of my favourite memories from those parties are when Mr C would occasionally dance behind the decks.

Yes, absolute classic

Juan’s remix of Heavenly was also off the hook

Honourable mention again for Dave mothersole who was kind of an oracle on this music back then-used to love his write ups in Muzik mag and a lovely bloke too, his and Mr C s shows on Kiss around 99 were well good -
Should also mention Mark Ambrose and his Crayon records and Steve o Sullivan and his Mosaic records- both class from that era

Yeah, top man and another wicked DJ. Used to listen to Colin Dale and Mr C’s shows religiously every week around that time.

Good shout on Mark Ambrose, should also mention Aubrey…

Classic tune

This is one of my favs from that era

Then I should mention this new label called Real Deal records repressing some tech house gems. Their stuff sells out in a matter of hours

There’s one young UK producer I always keep an eye on, it’s this guy right here. Took the tech house formula and made it interesting and fresh again.

Anthony Teasdale did some good stuff in the 90s that would sit under the umbrella (sorry) of Tech House.

I also like his ‘sound of the murray’ and he once hipped me to a nice jacket.
