Tech House, not always a dirty word

Would take a whole night of anything at the minute

Ahh yeah I know what Youā€™re saying.I had put it up as mentioned by the OP They were pulling / playing from a lot of different sub genres originally . I knew this one was a big Wiggle favourite at the time but as You say not quite techā€¦

Yes but that early sound at mainly DC10 splintered off into lots of different aspects and some of it remained very much in the underground, DJā€™s and producers like Rhadoo and Petre Inspirescu went on the create a their own unique sound and tonnes of amazing producers and DJā€™s were spawned from it and not just from Romania, there are excellent artists from the UK, Hungary, Italy etc. A type of floaty minimal house that is often hypnotising in the right circumstances. I have done a whole series of mixes as there is so much good stuff being released often by unknown artists or aliases so you donā€™t even know who has made the records which I love, the whole ethos of dance music for me, no egos, nobody caring what you look like or where you got your wacky shirt from, just great music. Very much how house music was at the beginning before the divs got hold of it.

I guess thatā€™s what the film is about. Tech-house became catch-all term for a kind of big room house sound that really didnā€™t have much to do with its roots

Yeah! Itā€™s nice that heā€™s re-released and remastered some old gear on the Silverlining Dubs EPā€™s. Dug the album too.

Yep, that was the point with the postā€¦the original tech house sound was a fairly eclectic mix taking in different styles of techno and houseā€¦

Ame Strong was a big tune, as well as loads of other deeper, more soulful house grooves

This is ace!

That for me is the apex of the whole genre.

Funky, individual, original and I think Gary Marsden said at the time he wanted the record to have new ideas throughout it. Think he achieved it.

Mr Cā€™s favorite record of that year as well.

I donā€™t really know that much about Tech house tbh. But I am mentally scarred from a random DC10 visit two years ago.

Interesting to see some tunes on this Tech House thread that appeared in the deep house thread.

And like that conversation about what the difference is between house and deep house I suppose the answer with any house genre is that there is ā€œgood houseā€ and ā€œSH!t house ā€œ

Great to hear a set of really good house that crosses the sub-genres.

I really enjoyed this Terry Francis Essential Mix at the time (1998). A little too pitched up for my tastes now but very well put together . RA doc was well done.

Like any genre/scene, itā€™s arse was kicked out of it very quickly. Like any genre/scene, it had some fantastic records.

Itā€™s all just house

Fond memories of Swag records - gettng looked after by Liz (rip) or Paul or Richard

Labels like Plank, Surreal, Reverberations, Wiggle, Offshoot were pretty much buy on sight

Pure Science, Bushwacka, Asad Rivsi(silver linings) , Jiten Acharaya , Ravi Macarthur, Nathan Coles, Terry Francis - so much gold came out of that shop late 90s

Off the top of my head heres a few of my favourites - Be Dup - Pure Science already been mentioned - his remix here hardly ever left the bag

Have happy memories dancing to this at The End around the turn of the century. A really unique sound and style from the man.
